Could I just uninstall One-drive from the settings/app menu? I presume the folders and files will remain on notebook?

Tried this yesterday
Unlinked notebook in OneDrive settings
cut all files shown on OneDrive to USB

When I opened OneDrive on PC all the files I cut were GONE, why did this happen with notebook unlinked. I was able to restore all files from OneDrive recycle bin on desktop PC.
Booted up notebook and still was able to view.
Q1 with notebook unlinked why did files on OneDrive also get deleted?

I'll try this next
Uninstall onedrive, create new folder under "this PC" on notebook as needed such as documents and Pictures
more to update after this.
thanks

Folders you have set to be backed up to OneDrive will have their files moved to your online OneDrive.

You should normally be able to copy them back from the online OneDrive if you turn off backing up the folders.
