How do you reboot a laptop?

My desktop computer had a reboot button underneath the power button which was real nice to use. As far as I know , laptops don't have that button. So how do you reboot a laptop? My machine is an ASUS Vivobook Model F1605V.

This is in case I encounter any problems with the installation of Windows 11, and I need to reboot.

  • Press and hold the physical power button and then restart the computer
  • Right click the power button and select restart
  • Open powershell and type Restart-Computer
  • From powershell or cmd type shutdown /r

You hold down the Power button for a few seconds until the PC forcibly powers off, then you push the button again to power on. Windows will record this as a "crash event".

And then you can click the power button bottom right of the screen and select restart. Alternatively, right-click the Windows start button and select "shut down or signout" to get to the menu that has a restart option.

All you have to do is click on the Windows icon then right click on the power button at the bottom right as @neemobeer suggested.

I'm talking about rebooting the laptop not using Windows. What Garlin said should work.

At some points in the install, you can use CTRL-ALT-DEL to open a menu. Otherwise when it hangs from a hardware-related problem (driver issues), this may not work.

If you've never done a customized image install, where users remove entire Windows features or components, then you don't know the joy of having Windows randomly lock up on you. Sometimes a freedom of choice can lead to a non-working system.
