In the UK at least, there is a lot of competition for contracts short (1 month rollover) or long term (12+ months). Many offer unlimited or high amounts (up to 100 GB).
But how much do you really use - are you paying over the odds?
Vast majority of people I know hardly use any large amount of data on the mobile as most of the dsta is downloading or streaming, and they use their (usually) unlimited broadband at home to do this.
I was offered 100 GB of data, unlimited calls/texts for £10 per month plus £2 discount per month by vodafone as I already had vodafone broadband. The normal pricing for such amounts is double that at least.
I could have saved around £2 per month by choosing much less mobile data. So in my case, I chose the 100 GB plan, so I would never need to worry about excess data charges whuch can be very punitive.
However, in reality, the most I have ever used is around 5GB lol.
Of course, climate can have a big impact e.g. if you live in hotter climates and spend time on beaches, streaming of videos outside is far more likely than in UK.
In the end, I think that there is a lot of disingenuous pricing and many are way overpaying, particularly on contracts that include top of range phones (different story).
So do you think you get value for money?
