Solved How run chkdsk on windows 11

On my asus l210 with windows 11: I need to run chkdsk to fix an external HD. I used run to start chkdsk. The screen briefly flashed the outline of a window, but nothing else. What do I need to do to use chkdsk?

Type in cmd (enter)
chkdsk [drive letter]: /F /R
so :
Code: 
chkdsk D: /F /R

or right click on the drive, Properties, Tools, Check

If you're having to use CHKDSK to repair a disk regularly it's time to replace the disk! In normal operation, it's almost never necessary to "repair" a disk.

Even though check disk might help, how often do you de-fragment the drive?
