Solved How to backup all settings ( contextmenus, icons, etc ..) before upgrade to 24H2 ?

How to backup all settings ( contextmenus, icons, etc ..) before upgrade to 24H2 ?
Encountered much problems after upgrade from 23H2 to 24H2 , need a solid backup of the system-setting !
How to get these ......?

My suggestion would be to use the "big hammer" approach and backup EVERYTHING by creating a full disk image backup of the Windows drive. This way you can get back to that point in time with absolutely everything saved and not have to worry that you missed something.

But note too that if you upgrade to 24H2 and something is not to your liking, you roll back to 23H2 as well. Even with that, I still like to make an image backup just in case something goes really badly wrong in the upgrade.

Settings <should be> maintained with an upgrade - that is the whole point of doing an upgrade vs a clean install. I suggest the backup in the event that it does not maintain your settings AND a rollback does not perform as expected.

As was stated a successful upgrade should retain all of the tweaks and settings you made. If one wants to backup all one's settings and tweaks separately to have for a clean install, then one is out of luck. I learned a long time ago to keep record of changes I made as I went along. I do keep a single running regedit file that includes all of Brink's registry tweaks which I apply after a clean install that covers most of it.

Settings are preserved when you upgrade, but all customizations (such as replacing the default system icons) are reset and you have to do them again. Even a cumulative update can change some icons and I have to do them again.
