On Linux KDE desktop, one can disable touchpad while using keyboard. Can I do that on Windows 11? Thanks.

Thanks. But I cannot find find the "Disable touchpad while typing" option that Glasskutter suggested. The rest of the post is not really applicable.

As I stated in the other thread, that was a co-pilot answer. I don't use touchpad devices so couldn't test it myself. As others stated most laptops I've seen do have keyboard keys or key combinations that will deactivate/reactivate the touchpad. If you tell us the exact model of your touch device we might can tell you the device specfic key/keys to use. If you use a mouse, you can turn the touch pad completely off if you wish. There's a tutorial for that. Enable or Disable Touchpad in Windows 11 Tutorial

I've never had a laptop myself, it was all I could find. Similar instructions on MS, etc.

Who is the manufacturer of your laptop? Perhaps they have their own method

This works for me as I use external keyboard and Mouse as I find it easier.

To do this, open the Settings app and go to Bluetooth & devices > Touchpad. Then, click the drop-down menu next to "Touchpad" just use the button to side to off.

Let's get a few things straight:
• you're using a Touchpad on a Desktop PC?
• is it part of the keyboard unit?
• what is the nature of the peripheral/how is it connected?
• can you disconnect it...

Assuming the Laptop as listed in the System Two

Then F10 or FN+F10 is the Disable/Enable Touchpad.

P.44 of your ASUS manual, download that PDF from ASUS support.

You maybe able to change the settings in the UEFI/BIOS.

The default on Laptops is to have the special functions, FN enabled on that row of function keys.

Sometime when I forget to disable the touchpad I see the cursor jumping around. That is because I tend to rest my hands on the touchpad while typing. The only way to stop this is to disable the touchpad. If the OP wants to stop this behavior he will have to do the same thing.

Of course if the OP wants to use the touchpad instead of using a mouse he will have to keep his hands from touching the touchpad while typing.

Right. This is exactly what I need. The cursor keeps moving while I am typing. This is for my ASUS laptop.

Sorry about the confusing about KDE Desktop. KDE Desktop is a software module in Linux for UI applications. My laptop is configured for dual boot, Windows 11 Pro and Ubuntu + KDE Desktop. Hopefully, it makes sense now. Thanks.

It's down to the individual touchpad maker. Some have the option to turn the touchpad off automatically ONLY when you are typing.
My Acer touchpad does not respond if I rest my palm(s) on it.
Did you look in Device Manager to see if it is an option for your touchpad?

The same touchpad can be turned off automatically only when I am typing in Linux. But I don't see an option in Windows 11 to do that. Note that this is a dual boot laptop.

Did you look in Device Manager to see if it is an option for your touchpad?

I just checked the Device Manager and it does not have options to disable the touchpad while I am typing. Thanks anyway.

On most laptops, there is an option in Windows to turn the touchpad off. On mine it is an option on the top row of keys. Might need the Fn key in combination.

I can turn off the touchpad on my laptop too. But what I really want is to automatically turn it off while I am typing. When I am not typing, I want to use the touchpad. It is cumbersome to manually turn on/off touchpad. I have been spoiled by Linux. lol...
