How to merge Outlook 2016 .pst file with/into newly created Outlook 2024 installed .pst file?

Question is above.

Would it be best to "Export" the .pst file from within the Outlook 2016 app, then "Import" the .pst file into the new Outlook 2024 app?
Or just "Copy" the Outlook 2016 .pst file from its File folder and "Paste" it onto the new Outlook 2024 .pst file in its new File folder?

Also, can I Change the new Outlook 2024 .pst Folder Name and Location without messing up the app?

How about changing the New .pst Folder Name and Location?

You do not "merge" the pst files.
1. On newly created account click file>account settings>manage profile.>data files
That tells you where its data file is stored. Go to that location and copy that new pst file to some other location temporarily.

2. Delete the new pst file. Then copy your old pst in its place. Close & reopen outlook and see if the newly created email account will open using that old pst file

If for some reason it won't , you can put the .pst you copied in step 1 back in.

How about this.

1. Use Outlook settings Open and Export to Import the new PST file
2. Once you have that new PST file open in Outlook, then drag and drop folders from the new PST file to the existing PST file. Outlook will deal with folders of the same name in both PST files.
3. When you are finished, CLOSE that new, now empty PST file
4. Close Outlook
5. Delete the now empty new PST file.

Sorry but you lost me in there with what is "NEW". The new copy of the old pst, or the new pst of the new Outlook?

How about some labels? A = old Outlook, B = copy of old pst file, C = New Outlook, D = New pst file

Copy the 2016 pst file to the Desktop (for protection sake, just keeps the original intact)
Copy the 2024 pst file somewhere as a backup
Open 2024 Outlook
Import the 2016 pst file
Now, in Outlook 2024, there will be 2 separate collections of emails (Inbox, Sent, etc)
Drag and drop the 2016 emails from their respective folders to their new respective 2024 folder
Close/delete the empty 2016 folder
(You could delete the 2016 pst file altogether, altho I'd leave that for a few months. Or even just move it to an external storage as a backup)

@Tz45 I am not familiar with importing but it seems the others are. I have only ever replaced one pst file with another and changed the Outlook' account data file path to point to the pst file I copied over by doing this.
If outlook is open close it and reopen it
click on File > Account Settings > Account Settings again> Data files tab> select the account in question > click add > browse & select the data file you want and click add.

Maybe I'm wrong, but the last I heard was that PST support in the "New" Outlook is not yet available. Or has this finally become available? I've been waiting desperately for this, no PST support is a deal breaker for me.

If you use Add /remove programmes to remove old office then install new office it will pick up all you old settings and account without any messing about.

Me too. I just love it when Microsoft (or other vendors) replaces a legacy product with a new one that lacks some key features of the old one,.\

Aside from that, what is the compelling reason for us to use the "new" Outlook, other than Microsoft says so?
