Only if the HDD turns out to be corrupted. Hopefully it's still in working order and can be read once it can be connected to the USB port of another PC.
Only last week I dug an old IDE drive out of a Windows 95 PC and read it successfully this way.

IDE (PATA) or SATA drive? You would need the correct USB enclosure.
IF it's SATA with your motherboard, assuming PC Specialist gave you an SSD or NVME boot drive and a 2TB Spinner, they usually do, you should have a couple of spare SATA Ports you could hook it up to.

I'm no spring chicken anymore in my late 70's now but I am techy able just not up to speed with all the latest jargon come buzz words.
I'm rather hoping I will be able to download all the files, photos etc and I will be able to use them in my new W11 PC [this one] and not have to do any adjusting to the files.
Jumanji is an expert on data recovery, should you find you old drive is corrupted once you can connect it.
If so, do NOTHING to try and fix the drive. Just post here to say so and wait for him to reply. He'll be watching this thread now that he's had a @ mention to alert him.

If it is an old working disk drive then an additional option may be another computer with multiple bays.
Then copy and paste to another disk drive.
There may also be an option for xcopy or robocopy.

No one has mentioned that there is a possibility that the OP may run into ownership problems in recovering these files. The "take ownership" option does not always work. If that proves to be the case, he will have to use the 'hard crack' method before he can copy his photos off the old drive. I have found the live Linux method much easier to use when recovering files. I boot from a Linux Mint usb drive and copy files easily without running into any permission problems. In windows, I use this method so seldom I made myself a little tutorial. Here it is in case you do not have access to your files.
How to take ownership of files and folders
Open File Explorer.
Browse and find the file or folder you want to have full access.
Right-click it, and select Properties.
Click the Security tab to access the NTFS permissions.
Click the Advanced button.
On the "Advanced Security Settings" page, you need to click the Change link, in the Owner's field.
Click the Advanced button.
On the "Select User or Group" page, click the Find Now button.
From the search result, select your user account, and click OK.
On “Select User of Group” page, click OK
Click Apply
Click OK
Click OK again.
Click OK one more time to complete this task.
It's important to note that if you're taking ownership of a folder, you can check the Replace all child object permissions with inheritable permissions option in the Advanced Security Settings page to take control of the subfolders inside of the folder.
Now you'll need to grant full access control to your account, to do this use the following steps:
Right-click the file or folder and select Properties.
Click the Security tab to access the NTFS permissions.
Click the Advanced button.
Under the Permissions tab, click Add.
Click Select a Principal and add your user account
On the “Select User of Group” page click Find Now
From search results, select your user account, click OK
On “Select User or Group” page click OK
On "Permission Entry", check the Full control option.

This looks like it is a 3.5inch drive but until I get it out of the PC bay and read the other side I wont know for sure but Dr. google says it is.
