How to Remove All Share From Context Menu?

I recently found and followed this tutorial on your site to remove the "Share" items from the Windows 11 context menu. After running the registry key, I found that it did successfully remove the "Share" entry from any folders (in the new Windows 11 context menu and the "Show more options" menu), but it still persists on individual files when I right click.

Can anyone direct me how to remove this from any/all context menus the rest of the way? Via some additional registry edit perhaps?

Here is what I'm referring to:

"Share" has different meanings. There's the traditional share using Windows networking, there's "modern sharing" (approximately) as used on phones to send links or images via social media, there's "nearby sharing" using Bluetooth to establish connections, and there's additional "Share using" options for sharing with Microsoft Teams and Phone Link.

You seem to have turned off "Modern sharing". You can turn off "nearby sharing" in the settings app, but Windows will invite you to turn it back on from the Share context menu item. There's a group policy "Continue experiences on this device" which does disable "nearby sharing", so you won't be asked to turn it back on. That leaves sharing with Microsoft Teams or Phone Link. It's possible that if you uninstalled both of these that would remove the context menu item. I haven't tried this. It might suggest that you installed them.

The new context menu combines different things. It includes Micosoft provided context menu items that appear under "Show more options", this seems to work on the basis that the verbs are whitelisted. If you disable these options they disappear from both context menus. It also includes other items that don't appear in "Show more options". I've looked for methods to remove "Share" but haven't found anything yet.

If you find anything do let us know.

Mike

Thanks for all the info! And yes, I am familiar with that link, as I used it to some success already.

I have confirmed that "Share" has been removed from all folder's context menu. And it has even been removed from the classic "Show more options" context menu on files. However, the one I'm still needing to remove is the new Windows 11 context menu "Share" option on files.

Here is a bit more clarity...

This is the version of "Share" I'm referring to, as it seems to be the built-in Windows one:

And this is the only one left (the one listed as "Doesn't remove" in the ElevenForums image):

I feel like I'm very close to getting this removed from all entries. Has anyone been able to zero on on where this last "Share" entry in the new Windows context menu for just files is located? It's the top menu when you first right-click. Again, I've already been able to remove the exact same entry for all folders.

While it doesn't specifically list Win11, might see if

Lists Share

A Guy

Also, just to confirm, I have all the options related to sharing toggled to off in all the "shell" apps, but that doesn't seem to remove the top level share option on the new Windows 11 context menu for files. This one is a tricky bugger. If anyone figures this out, would really appreciate that info later. Thanks!
