I would like to be able to permanently remove all mp4 file edges from video files if possible. I have been using the the orange cone icons and now I'm using saved images as clips and I want to get rid of the film edges.

By "Orange Cone Icons" do you mean VLC Player?
I don't think you can edit the shortcuts in VLC player.
Playing the video in Full Screen will eliminate any borders when playing the video.

This still works in Windows 11:
And..., if you don't want the default player icon on the thumbnail either, uncheck this entry in File Explorer Options...

I'm so glad I'm an old fart that still uses text names for files or folders.
IMO, the only place for thumbnails is in image viewers, like XnView and Irfanview.

I mean you just can't get much simpler or more efficient than this...

Honestly... what good is a thumbnail on a video?

Still assembled, still runs. Haven't turned it on for 13 years?

I already have the icons removed. I just needed to figure out how to remove the border. And this did the job thank you for the help.

The reason I prefer the icons is so that it makes it easier to see the information from a distance I guess. I plan to connect my older pc to a hdmi 32"tv in the room and use older desktop to play videos. So the icons will be easier to see then a list of text I think. Plus I plan to play the shows in order so I plan to make a playlist with vlc if I can figure it out later on. Example if I wanted to play "The Nanny" I would start with season 1 and episode 1 and continue until the season is finished and then open season 2 and so on. With playlists on vlc I think it would be easier for my TV Shows and movies will have the poster or coverart per file. I use mp3tag to change the coverart. I just wanted to get rid of the side border.
