I bought a new laptop for my daughter and during the Windows 11 setup it required a microsoft account so I used mine. Now that it's setup, it's linked everything about me with my files and cloud storage to her pc.

I went and made her a hotmail account to get her own microsoft account setup, but now that it's created, it isnt letting me delete my account to make hers the "owner" account of the laptop.

Is it possible to do this?

Still assembled, still runs. Haven't turned it on for 15 years?
I still don't see the step that lets you delete the account it was originally created under. I stated i already have her account setup. I can't get rid of the Parent account the PC was setup under. It's like it's just treating her account as an "branch" off the main tree.

That's not what I want. I want my account to be gone completely off that computer.

When you log on to local account the Microsoft account does not exist you can think as deleted there is no way around it or you can create a local account and from the local account you created delete the Microsoft account.

Remove a user account
  1. In the Settings app on your Windows device, select Accounts > Other user or use the following shortcut: Other Users.
  2. Under Other users, select the flyout for the account you want to remove.
  3. Next to Account and data , select Remove.

Start the computer, sign into your account, press the Windows and "R" keys simultaneously, type or paste "control /name Microsoft.UserAccounts" into the "Open" box and click "OK". When the accounts window opens, click on "Manage another account" and see if the account you created says "Administrator". If it doesn't, click on it, click "Change the account type", select "Administrator" and click "Change account type". Then sign out, sign into the account you created and see if you can delete your account.
