If the computer is under warranty contact again HP support.

Run through the steps that were performed in this thread.

Indicate that you can create an etl trace with Windows Performance Recorder (WPR).

Ask if they have the ability to interpret the trace or what other troubleshooting steps they may have.

Okay. I will do that! I checked the warranty, and it says "Unknown Warranty" on HP Support Assistant and on HP's website. The computer was purchased brand new. I paid it off not too long ago.

Yes you can save to an external disk drive.

Google, One drive, and other websites only offer a relatively small amount of free drive space.
For significant drive space there is a monthly fee.

So use the external drive.

Then consider performing a reset save files > check to see whether sleep works or fails > if it works then download the HP support assistant and use it to reinstall fresh drivers > reinstall applications

Okay. Will do! I was also thinking of doing a reset myself. But wasn't sure until you all said to go for it.

A windows reset save files is fine.

If you make backup images then you can restore in case there are recurrent sleep problems.

Make the first sleep check immediately after the reset save files (before installing any drivers).

If the computer is without sleep problems then install all drivers and reevaluate (this is before installing any applications).

Computer has been backed up with Macrium Reflect. Resetting now. I will provide an update tomorrow on how everything is going. Thanks so much everyone for your help!

@jessewilliams56 Yay! I just read this thread and I have to say @zbook has gone above and beyond helping you. I want to commend all those others who "backed off" and let zbook direct you to a solution.

Since you are relatively new to this site, I would suggest you click on (open) the "Like" button, then click on the "Helpful" button on one of his posts.

Oops! I see you've already given him a Like, but a Helpful goes toward his Guru status. And he is a Guru!

That's great news.

Confirm that the computer is up to date running HP support assistant and Windows updates.

Then install your favorite applications > confirm that sleep is functioning

Make new backup images and save to an external drive.

@zbook: Thanks for your help with this thread. I am sorry for being late on getting back to you. My Laptop is now running okay and I am not having any issues with the sleep mode anymore. I did check for updates via HP Support Assistant and Windows Update, and all is up to date.

Are you a member of the sister site Ten Forums? I have submitted a thread on a computer I am working on for a friend. If you are on there, I would appreciate if you could help me with it. Thanks!
