I'm worried about TMPIN4 high heat 98c. Is it serious and what can be done about it? Mobo is Asus Rog Strix B550-F and cpu AMD Rryzen 7 5700G.

TMPIN4 is your 'package' temp. iirc. So, 98C for your CPU. So, either very hot, or TMPIN4 is simply not connected (which is quite common), after which it just shows an undefined number.

That's converted to 208°F for us people in America :) . (Yes, I hate the awful metric system, but that's just me) :) That's extremely hot. . WOW. If that is a true temp, I'm surprised it hasn't fried the computer parts.

Does it sit at 98C constantly, or are you seeing occasionally very brief visits to 98C?

I'd pull the plug before you melt something. Add some cooling while you investigate.

I agree with this! That could catch a fire as well. That's extremely hot. Might want to invest in liquid cooling

Not really into AMD all that much, but those temps are suspiciously close to where Intel defines its Tjmax. Good moment to install something like CoreTemp, methinks.

I agree with @ThrashZone . Or for quick monitoring across your cores use coretemp. I have it running in my system tray all the time so as to alert me of high temps. Core Temp

If your temps run that high all the time, you are sitting on a time bomb for a melt down. Your cooler is not doing its job or someone forgot the thermal paste on your cpu. If this is a newly build PC, there is also a chance the fans have been installed backward. If you are using one cpu fan, it should be installed in a 'push' direction' (pushing air thru the heat sink and over cpu). If you are using a 2 fan set up, one should be installed in the push direction with the other in the 'pull' direction (pulling air away from the cpu and towards the exhaust fan). Check your exhaust fan that it is pulling air out of the case.

Does it sit at 98C constantly, or are you seeing occasionally very brief visits to 98C?

My guess would be that his AMD Ryzen™ 7 5700G (with a Tjmax of 95C) is constantly throttling. I don't think it will catch fire, but won't do its longevity any good, of course. Under full load, somewhere in the low end of 70C should be fine. 80C, max.

I just put together a new 5800X build and went off to check temps. I'm running around 32C at idle, and up into the 50s under load. If the near-100C temps on the OP's posting are accurate, I'd be concerned. Something is likely to be hinky with CPU cooling (thermal paste, cooler interface/contact area, fan operation, etc.). Piriform Speccy is good with temps, too (and I'm also a long-time chronic Core Temp user).

Best to use Ryzen Master, it shows "Effective" temps, voltages etc. that means as if it was single core and not just transient values that describe each most loaded core.
Ryzen does not report temperatures by core although it's algorithms take them to determine switching load between cores for best performance.
5000 series Ryzen is allowed higher temps than previous ones nut 90c+ is still way high.
