windows 11
I only see 4 devices, but I know the ancient laptop used to show up in my MS account.
If I boot it up, will it then show up? It has an authentic win10 install.
What if it wont boot up?

some MVP guy on a MS forum said you have to tell it to login to a local account, then switch back to online account, as otherwise the PC has to stay on for 30 days before it again appears in your list online. What is bad about that is the OS could be lost to me as I now have to look thru paperwork to find the activation key. I was wanting to release from this old laptop to a different PC. Honesty, I do not like what is happening here. Was counting on online account to keep it till I wanted to do something else without, feel let down. See, this is making me do extra work and maybe hours of that to do what I was told was so convenient to have your PC's registered in your online account. Except that is a lie, it really is. And who knows if I can even find the key again, probably can.

yes, that worked, it now shows 5 devices in my online account....
What i did was force sign in with local account, then go back to sign in with ms account. It then appears in the list online.

answer is here, how many of you knew this?
I do not recall removing this device from my online list...

Hey Jam_3,

PC's automatically show up on account.microsoft.com/devices when you sign in to them.

If you remove a device from the list, but you keep using it, then it will show up again after 30 days. If you really want it to show up right now, then go to Settings > Accounts > Your account and switch to signing in with a local account, and then connect your Microsoft account again.

Let me know if this doesn't work for you!

Thanks,

Daniel

As long as you are sorted that's all that matters. I always use Local Accounts and do not store anything in the cloud.

Good luck.
