I can't find microsoft word and excel in start menu

I have Microsoft Word and Excel installed on my laptop, however, I can't find them in my Start menu so every time I want to use them I still need to open an existing word document and press ctrl+n. I have had their shortcuts before so I don't know what happened even though my other microsoft apps such as publisher, one note, and outlook still have their shortcuts.. Advance thank youuu!

You could try to put a (copy of the) link to the Word and Excel executable files in:
C:\Users\[Username]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs

Just tested that and it does function.

Tested it with another program, but that makes no difference for the linking in the start menu.

Edit: I normally use the start menu of Open Shell.
But when you click shift start, you can use the normal Windows 11 start menu.
It was there that I checked for functioning!

If the above isn’t what you are looking for… Are you using a standalone office version or office 365? I don’t know office 365 but if you’re using something like office 2021 or earlier, try going into Programs and Features in control panel, right clicking on Office xxxx and click ”Change” then follow he prompts, see if that puts your icons back.

Or

  1. Right click on the Start button then select on Apps and Features.
  2. Locate the Office software in the list of apps, either listed as Microsoft Office 365 or Office 2019. ...
  3. Select either option 1 of a Quick Repair or option 2 of an Online Repair, then select Repair.
