That's right. My pet peeve whom I elected to call "George" is no longer a resident of my old X99 Work Station and I have every intention of evicting that nasty yellow monster from my latest project as well. Hopefully, once I'm done exterminating this horrendous vermin the cat will never come back, but for the time being I can safely say adios to the ITBMT 3.0 abomination in my device manager. I'm clean as a whistle. Finally.

You don't remember the extensive thread addressing the Intel Turbo Boost Maximum Technology 3.0 driver issue from about two years ago that I started and nobody could solve? Perhaps it is just as well. R.I.P. and call me Curiosity. I managed to evict George.

Okay, so I lied. It sure feels like two years ago. A trip down memory lane perhaps?


Really gotta hand it to MoKiChU though. He's a real stand up guy and methinks this forum could stand to have more like him. That thread is a tribute to the man's diligence, patience, and dedication. I confess that I was the hot-headed angry grandpa in that scenario and I'm grateful that someone actually gave me the heads up on who MoKiChU was exactly. TBH I was clueless and I feel a little mortified looking back on that entire fiasco. At that time all I knew is that I wanted a fix for this annoying sliver under my skin and a lecture about how I shouldn't install Win 11 on an X99 platform was the last thing I needed.

The silliest thing is that when I finally DID get a Windows 11 compliant platform on the test bench the same problem persisted. Yup. I called it. Not being Windows 11 compliant was not the problem. Not having TPM2 wasn't the problem either. Newer board, newer CPU, same problem. This isn't exactly cheap hardware we're talking about here. My old, used, replacement system board cost me over 800 bux. Brand new that board alone cost over 2K clams. There's no way that this cat from Canuckistan could afford to replace an ASUS X99 Work Station board with a brand new comparable platform without robbing his daughter's University tuition and we all know that ain't gonna happen.

So.. You can imagine my chagrin when the cat came back. Long story short: George was not a good pet. George was loud. (He had a permanent exclamation mark.) George was yellow. The only pet that deserves to be yellow is a canary, but George really is a cat. George was triangular in shape and it's not that I'm discriminating against appearances, but George insisted on making ugly appearances at the worst of times. George had the audacity to take up permanent residency in my device manager for the longest while. I thought I could get around this issue by forking out for a newer, Windows 11 system board and a newer next gen i9 CPU. I was painfully mistaken. Something had to be done.

So I did it.

I killed the cat.

Admittedly this is not the advice MoKiChU would have given me. I have absolutely no remorse. I am a Maverick. I am a Rogue. I am still haunted by that song and every day now I check my device manager to make sure this monstrosity hasn't returned to roost in the tree yet again. And now I am stuck with two old ASUS work station boards and one of them needs a proper case. :::sigh::: When will it end?
