Hi everybody, hope all is ok on your end.

It's asus vivobook , windowds 11 up to date and its brand new.
It overheats like crazy by just watching youtube even if its 720p videos or even less quality especially the new songs, lyrics ones though. I'm chrome user but it happens with edge too.
While doing the recovery usb the temp jumped upto 80 celcius

I changed to best effeciency mode in power settings instead of balanced and yes it lowered the temp and I could barely hear the fan moving so I'm not sure if that mode disable it or what?! It feels off to me I and I don't want the internal things to get roasted or something as the vents are weirdly placed on the bottom and there's not much of them and I can see the motherboard. All previous machines had vents on the side and I could feel the hot air coming out. I'm using a cooling pad all the time and the laptop is plugged in for about 10 hours a day.

I contacted asus they say I have to go with best performance and set the fan on peformance mode instead of standard. It didn't sound good to me so I didn't do it.

P.S.
I did read about the intel problem and overheating but thought that was with H/K/GK series but not U.

Any suggestions?!

Hi Hakeem, first of all I would take a look at the Tak Manager and see if there is some abnormal use of CPU/RAM if you don't see any abnormal usage of CPU and RAM I would test the suggested setting by Asus, after all they are the manufacturer and know their devices much better than you and me.

Hi Hakeem

There is nothing wrong with your processor.
On the Intel specs sheet it is given for 100 °C.
All i7 U type processors can and will run this hot and if they reach this temperature they will bring down their working frequency and keep going.
These are laptop/mobile processors.
i7 U type is a multi core, multi thread variable frequency proc.

Lookup T junction under Package Specifications in the page given by this link

Your processor is doing fine.

Ciao, Han
Edit: added i7

Thanks. When it comes to task manager I really don't know what's normal let alone ubnormal.
