So I am contemplating a new build and I am going to go Intel this time. My i7-13000-something at work blows the doors off of my Ryzen 5800X that I have at home and I am really impressed with it. I am not a huge gamer, but I run a lot of engineering software that runs way better if I have lots of cores.
So I am wondering: Should I buy an i9 CPU rather than the i7 for future proofing? The i7 is fine for what I am doing. At least the one at work is, and I assume that 14th generation will be even better.
I am going to pair this with an Nvidia RTX 4070 Ti Super, or a 4080 because of well, gaming, and CAD software, Photoshop, etc.
I am not concerned about price. I want the best hardware I can get, but I don't need overkill. That's why I am asking if the i9 is too much CPU for me.
Thoughts?
