Thoughts on Windows 11

I loved Window 7 and 10 from the start.
I can't say this about 11.

This is primarily a help forum. The best help for Windows 11 is to revert to Windows 10? :)




I admit I sorta felt that way about Windows 8. 10 felt to me like 8 done right. I like 11 well enough mainly because I never customized the Win10 interface much. The apparent lesser flexibility of 11 isn't a problem for me.

I`m rocking W11 on the X299 and it`s great, the only 3rd party software I use is Transparent Taskbar, and that`s it, everything else I have customized myself using what W11 gives.

I wouldn't hold your breath on that. Windows 10 was king for about 4 years, 5 if you count betas.

W11 will remain on my test rig .. just for curiosity to see how it evolves over time
The recently installed W10 Enterprise LTSC stays on my main PC, primarily because of DX12 support for the new games
All my laptops will remain on W7 x64 Ultimate, because I love the (IMHO) unrivaled W7 look & feel, practicality and ergonomics.

Windows 10 Pro x64 has been my best Hybrid experience on my Mac Pro in a VM and running it bare metal on a separate SSD. But as it seems likely I'm not able - hardware - to even try Windows 11 as my hardware is not compatible. Well ngl wish I could update to / clean install a copy of Windows 11 in a VM. My main Windows 10 SSD will remain on Windows 10 for now.

The right click context menu is a easy fix, I hated the way it was too.


And so is the Command bar across the top of windows explorer.

On Oct 5 I upgraded my two computers to Windows 11.
I was in full test mode knowing I could go back to Windows 10.
Here I am two weeks later, and I didn't downgrade back to 10.
After setting Windows 11 up for the way I work, I like Windows 11 a lot.
I feel no need to make my Windows 11 look or act like Windows 10.

Even right here at the Forum, the original post and all of the replies have beautiful rounded corners. And I`m using W10 on the Z170 right now.
This has nothing to do with W11, but you tell me, doesn`t it look great, don`t you think square corners on all these replies would look terrible ?

YEP keep on testing we all should Know it's new and it is full of bugs. Most insiders have more than one machine to use. And to be fair Microsoft should stop Making money their priority, Linux is coming on leaps and bounds and is perfect for Noncompatible windows 11 machines, in fact, some Linux Distros look very similar to the present build's look.

Nope, never said that :) but don`t you agree, the Forum looks great ?

I was actually thinking the forum designers on here could do a better job of designing windows 11 lol! Can you imagine if "What's new", "Tutorials", "Resources" tabs etc at the top were, instead, tiny little faded icons - no-one would ever see them or use them.

I'm actually finding W11 fine on a decent laptop. I had a few grouches about it on my netbook but heck my netbook shouldn't be running it at all by rights.

I loved Windows 7 from the start (but missed XP a lot). I didn't love Windows 10 from the start. But got to like it a lot more when I installed Windows 7 games :). Incidentally I have installed Windows 7 games on Windows 11 as well - from Winaero. I can still play chess so that's good.

To be honest I couldn't care less about the corners being round or square.

Hi,
Cell phones/ notepads mostly both are mainly touch interface
Pretty much why ms keeps sterilizing the start menu for desktop users.
