Install to old pc without uefi and tpm. Is this possible?

Hi.
I want to install the windows 11 to an old laptop without uefi and tpm.
Can i do that?
As i see from net i find some version it can install to pc's without tpm but without uefi i don't find anything.

Please help.

Yes, and you can do it with the standard Microsoft install usb as made by the Media Creation Tool. You just make a few registry changes before proceeding with the install. Details in post #3 here.

All my 10 and 11 installs are without uefi boot/ gpt disks even ones that are compatible
I agree rufus is the easiest way to get it all done.

I installed Win 11 22H2 on an old Dell XPS M1530 using rufus. No UEFI, TPM, Secure boot and it's working fine

I don't understand or how Rufus hasn't been banned lol

Much as I would like to see that (hate it with a passion), it has not done anything illegal.

I always just use dism /apply-image from the standard Windows 11 install USB flash drive for a clean install to unsupported hardware. Of course it won't work for upgrades.

Hey, I would strongly recommend anyone who doesn't have a uefi boot sector to MIGRATE their boot sector to UEFI.
There are tutorials and easy-to-use tools for this. You have to put aside about 2-3 hours to read up and do it but it's something you will eventually have to deal with so you might as well get it out of the way.

You don't have to switch to UEFI mode, most older computers don't even support UEFI only Legacy BIOS mode. No need to say all the hacks on this thread again, please read the appropriate thread in the Installation section. Latest posts say how to clean install or upgrade to Windows 11 22H2.

I have several computers, Desktops and Notebooks, that can't properly install Win11 and I don't intend to try different methods. My issue with it is that I support clients and have the need to see and try to replicate their issues to which end I got a Notebook a year ago and a Desktop 6 months ago with Win10 Pro with free license for Win11. I do very little in the way of customizations.

With a VM. You can add TPM emulation and possibly change the virtual CPU in the VM's configuration file.

Even on a BIOS only machine you can add a Virtual disk with EFI and secure boot to create a VM that is Windows 11 compatable,

No need to be that complicated. Search for Windows 11 Media Creation Tool. Don't download the tool, scroll down to the third option, to download the ISO directly. Download Windows 11 ISO and then download Rufus. Run Rufus and load the ISO. To create a USB flash drive that installs in computers with an UEFI firmware, select GPT UEFI and proceed. To create a USB flash drive that installs in computers with Legacy BIOS (or with both UEFI and CSM support), select MBR Legacy BIOS (CSM) and proceed. Upon clicking the button to proceed you will see a menu if you also want to patch the USB to bypass TPM, Secure Boot and other checks. Select all options and proceed.

The USB can be used both for a clean installation and for upgrade of an unsupported computer. To upgrade to 22H2 make sure you are disconnected from the internet.

So how i can clean install to a pc without tpm and uefi to a SINGLE partition?
Simply i must pre-format the hdd into one and only ntfs partition?

The only reason I have for that is when using External drives for simple storage. For clean install of Windows I use a clean drive, just as it came from manufacturer, and let Windows create all the partitions it needs, could be 3, 4 or 5. Most will be small, this is what I have with my Desktop from April:



As shown the smaller partitions have no drive letter and do not show their format as they are not intended to be routinely accessed by the User.

If desiring to use a previously-used drive I use the Bootable GPARTED LiveCD to clean it or put it in a drive dock attached to my Linux Mint computer and GPARTED to fully clean. I can then partition and format it.

I'm not getting what the end result desired is. If the drive is intended to be used as only storage and has previously had a version of Windows on it [been used in a computer] there usually are a few small partitions and Windows may, actually will have difficulty in deleting them.

Yes, it can be done - and NavyLCDR is the one who can tell you how.

I am curious as to 'why' though. It's easy to bypass the checks and do a Legacy/MBR clean install of Windows 11. That will make 3 partitions. The last one (the Recovery partition can easily be removed (disable the recovery environment first if you ever want to be able to turn it back on again).

The C: partition can then be extended into the space released, leaving just a tiny system reserved partition at the start of the disk.
