Installing Office 2024 64-bit Alongside Office 2007 32-bit on Windows 11: Seeking Solutions

Hello everyone,

I'm currently using Microsoft Office 2007 on my Windows 11 machine, and it's been working perfectly for my needs. Recently, I attempted to install Office 2024 alongside Office 2007. However, I encountered an error during the setup process of Office 2024. The error message indicated that I can only install the 32-bit version of Office 2024 because my existing Office 2007 installation is 32-bit.
I would like to keep Office 2007 installed while also installing the 64-bit version of Office 2024. Has anyone faced a similar issue or does anyone have a solution to this problem?
From what I understand, Microsoft Office requires all installed versions to be either 32-bit or 64-bit, and mixing them isn't supported(it looks like), I am looking for any workarounds or solutions that would allow me to maintain both versions

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

The documentation is pretty clear.

My guess is even if you could, Office 2024 would have more of a chance than 2007 of surviving. All office programs/versions share resources/files. 2007 won't utilize 64 bit files is about as easy as I can understand it to pass it on.

Is there no option to install a 32bit version of Microsoft Office 2024?

I’m yet to look into 2024 properly. I was thinking of buying it. And to be 100% honest, all I care about is that it can still utilize PST files correctly as it does in Office 2021.

You could run one in a VM? I’ve never had one so it’s just a brainfart

If you install the 64-bit version, but want the 32-bit version instead, you must first uninstall the 64-bit version before installing the 32-bit version. The same is true if you installed the 32-bit version, but want to install the 64-bit version. See “Office (64-bit or 32-bit) couldn't be installed” error.​

I feel a bit silly for not thinking of it myself... but your solution worked perfectly. I initially thought it made more sense to install Office 2007 first, but as you suggested, installing Office 2024 64-bit first allowed me to install Office 2007 32-bit afterward without any issues! (I can even run both versions at the same time without any problems! :))

Yes, I think installing Office 2024 in 32-bit or setting up one of the Office versions on a virtual machine could have been a last resort solution, but I'm glad your solution worked!
