Is anyone using a digital Journal?

I have been using a (16-bit) application called “Daily Journal” (DJ) since April,1996 recording my activities (NIC work), vacations, women, holiday get togethers, etc.
With Windows 11 (64-bit) I was wondering about having DJ coming to an end & finding another Journal application.
The past 2 days I tested, installed & deleted several ways to use in W11 & finally nailed it down using Hyper-V w/ a Windows 10 x86 guest tweaked for 16-bit installs.

So now I am wondering if any other members at the great forum are using a digital Journal & what their preferred one is.

Oh wait a minute - 19th century (or earlier) "Dear Diary....."

When I was on the Vista Operating System, I used to use Windows Journal for this purpose. I even bought a Graphics Tablet especially for the application, so I could write in handwritting the journal entries.
However, Microsoft discontinued Journal on Windows 7 and 8, so I reverted to using plain old WordPad for my writings. I would save each entry in a different folder, each labelled with the date.
Some people I know use Evernote or MS OneNote, which are both free. While these programs are designed for notetaking, there is enough customisation to allow journal keeping.
Now I learn that Microsoft have re-introduced Journal for Windows 10 and 11. Now named Microsoft Journal. It supports the old .jnt file format that was in Windows Vista.


There are other paid digital journal alternatives. I haven't tried any of them, so I cannot recommend them.
Aside from journaling on a computer is to use an E-Ink Digital Paper Tablet. That way you would have a device that was dedicated to the purpose. Just make sure you get one that can sync your journal to Cloud storage, if you want to archive what you have created.
However, my new current shortlisted favourite is the Rocketbook Fusion smart reusable notebook. First spotted on Amazon. It is a notepad with wipe clean pages, making it Eco friendly. Each page has a QR code, which allows page scanning via their Smartphone App and uploading to any of the well known Cloud storage services, or to your email.


While the Rocketbook is more of a planner than a journal, it has pre-formatted pages that can be used for jotting ideas or reflections.

A few plusses on the one I am using are: Its password protected, has a spell checker, does word search (very handy) & will print & print to a .pdf + the usual features one would expect (font/size, bold).
I use & like having a digital journal for many reasons.

Microsoft Word - I have a Word document where I record some of my thoughts in the form of quotes or philosophical views. No diary though as some things are staying in my head to the grave

Anyway, plus +1 for OneNote as it'll handle all sorts of files and media including YouTube. You can even link or past Office documents in it. You can also password protect a section or multiple sections of the notebook. It does support a stylus so you can handwrite notes, as well as voice dictation from either desktop or Android device. That also makes in sync able. And of course, it has spell checker and formatting features

I've used dictation from my Android device (Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra), and it's pretty good.

I've used Microsoft OneNote since 2003. I've entered many thousands of notes in the years since. I can search and sort them any way I like. OneNote on my Android phone has been a lifesaver countless times when I'm out and about. For me OneNote is an integral part of my life, and I wouldn't be without it.

I don't really do any journaling per se, but...,
years ago, working in the office of our family business, I always had a fondness for a desktop ink blotter/calendar for jotting down appointments, reminders or just thoughts of the day!
Finally found something similar for PC... CalendarTask

You can just as easily do this with Excel or Word. I have Office 365 on my phone. But yeah, love OneNote.

BTW, I use Outlook as my daily manager. Probably cause that's what I used when I was active duty.

Yes, you're right. This came to mind simply because I used it at the Doctor's office just yesterday. And you're right, I could have had my medical information saved using any app that simply saved words. I shouldn't have added such a poor example to my post.
