Hello,

I have an old app which I need to use for work which doesn't have any kind of dark mode built into it. It called MySQL-Front (yes its ancient) but I really have no choice but to use it. Is there any way to make Windows 11 apply a dark theme to this program? Ideally I'd just like the white background to be black and the text to be white. This would be a lot easier on my eyes. I've heard a lot about Windows 11 dark theme but not sure if it can work on older programs such as this one.

Win 11 version 22H2

Hi,
I am afraid you are stuck with the old interface, unless someone has written a new version for it.

In my view the color settings of a program are fully determined by that program, not by the operating system it's working on.
Some programs fit language and colors to the operating system, but mostly programs have their own setup capabilities.

Besides that: when I search "MySQL-Front" in the Internet, I find that there is more than one version of the program. So if you would want any help with the specific program you are using, you'll have to specify what version you are using and maybe other important data of it.

There are a handful of programs which can invert / alter your screen colours. For example f.lux can effectively dark mode your entire screen by inverting the colours. As far as I know, the only program which can do this on a window-by-window basis is 'dark mode any app'. I've been using this with Notepad on Windows 8 (doesn't have a dark mode) recently and it works just fine. Link is below.

I would like to note that the program "Dark Mode Any App" is shareware with a testperiod of 30 days.
After that a licence of US $ 9,95 / € 9,59 will be needed to keep the program going.
Which in my personal opinion is rather expensive for a program with a limited functioning.

I'm using MYSQL-Front version 5.1 (build 4.13). I don't think the newer versions (which don't work properly anyway) have a built in dark mode either. I'll give the Dark Mode Any App thing a go. If it saves my eyes from the blazing sun of MYSQL-Front then it might just be worth the 10 dollars. Let's see.
