Is Windows 11 better than 10?

OS
Windows 11
I've been holding out on either upgrading to 11 or buying a computer with it installed. Heard that 11 had a lot of problems. Finally was forced to get it when I bought a new computer. For those with experience with both, what are the benefits of 11 over 10?

Not sure if there is a better place for this, so sorry if I posted in the wrong place. :)

ETA I'm not having any problems with 11 so far. I feared I couldn't get my old software loaded, but it's doing fine. Even seems to be doing better than on 10. So maybe my fears were misguided?

There have been many threads on this topic.

Windows 11 has been out two years now and is fine and pretty rock solid.

There appear to be a few teething in issues with 24H2 but nothing significant, and the main issues have already been fixed in the Release Preview Insider build and will shortly filter to the release build.

The one major benefit of W11 over W10 is that W10 is getting near end of life and is no longer being developed and will no longer be supported.

Most anti-windows 11 sentiment views comes from those who do not like change (and that is not age related - many of the regulars here are "silver surfers").

In the end, there is not a lot of difference in terms of usage i.e. if a program runs on Windows 10, it will run on Windows 11 in most cases.

Sure there are some minor irritating downside to Windows 11 but more than offset by its generally more slicker interfaces.

When I am on my works PC using Windows 10, it feels so outdated now.

As you have already discovered, W11 is fine and your apprehensions based on (misguided) hearsay have proven to be unfounded.

Welcome to the W11 forum - take time to explore the excellent tutorials section which will take your W11 skills to the next level, and you will become your local guru :-).

Hello Judith... and welcome to ElevenForum. :-)

The only somewhat less than stellar facet of Win 11, is that it's "still" not fully cooked yet.
It's almost like it isn't even an OS. It seems more like a testing ground for things they may decide to do on Win 12.

Like the old saying: As soon as your figure out where it's at... they move it. :-)

Aside from the fact that they keep changing things, it's not a bad OS.
But many feel that they should just stop messing around with it.

Moving from win 10 to Win 11, is sort of like it was when they moved from Win 7 to Win 8.

Is many here the same as the many who stated they would like leases on Macrium Reflect i.e. 1,2,3 many in some counting cultures?

The last statement is purely your opinion (and in my opinion negative for the sake of it nonsense). I bet very few members on this forum agree with you!

Hi, Judith, welcome to this forum 🙏 (Full of members with passionate opinions 😄)

Windows 10 only has (I think) exactly 12 months left from the date of my posting this.

Yes, every app or software I had running on 10 is running fine on 11 and I also believe they are running better. Even on my 10yo PC

Do you want to know the best part about Windows 11? This forum. If you’re stuck, members are here to help.

Perhaps hold of on any invitation to upgrade to 24H2 just for the moment. Because (as cereberus mentioned) there are some things to iron out. But hopefully with the new Windows update process “Checkpoint cumulative updates” these issues should be resolved soon.

Happy computing 🙏
