I am still running Windows 7 with 2 HDhomeRun Primes total 6 tuners on Comcast WMC and KODI so now purchased Lifetime PLEX but would not work on my current machine so I built a Windows 11 Pro PC with Asus P8Z77 mother board with i7-3770 cpu with 32 gig and Nvidia Quadro P2200 card for transcoding.

Is WMC solid on Windows 11 ? with EPG123 and all my goodies ?

Because everything is Automated and I am gone sometimes for months or Do I need to setup the W11 as a Mapped Drive so Win7 can send recorded TV shows to it ?

I can't answer your media related questions as I am not familiar with such a setup. I will say, IMO, I would not recommend attempting to map an entire system drive, only certain folders on that drive. I do have a shared storage drive where the entire drive is shared and mapped.

When you refer to WMC are you talking about Windows Media Center? Windows Media Center was last supported with Windows 8 Pro. It will not work on any Windows version after that.

When I had Windows 7 I used Windows Media Center with my Hauppauge TV tuner to connect with Comcast. When I upgraded to Windows 10 I switched over to an app supplied by Hauppauge. A couple years ago I gave up on the tuner because I could no longer get it to work with Comcast.

You could try searching for WMC windows media center centre to find out if anybody has made any comments about running it in Windows 11.
www.elevenforum.com/search/
Added a bit later - No, no hits.

You might also search TenForums in case anything that people posted about using it in Windows 10 proves useful for you in Windows 11.
www.tenforums.com/search.php?query=
I do recall people in TenForums saying that they had managed to set it up but the only note I kept was this link
Here is how to install Media Center on Windows 10 - Windows Central

Added a bit later - This particular TenForums search result looks familiar. Perhaps it will help you -
Windows 7 user needs a Media Center Replacement - TenForums
Added even later - No, it just contains a discussion of alternatives to WMC & a warning that Windows 10 updates had wrecked an earlier attempt to set up WMC. Additionally, I mentioned DVBViewer which is what I use in Windows 10 [I have not yet tried it in Windows 11].

I think you might be better off looking for an alternative such as DVBViewer.

Do I need to setup the W11 as a Mapped Drive so Win7 can send recorded TV shows to it ?
Whichever solution you adopt, if you are going to transfer files between your Windows 7 computer & your Windows 11 computer then a simple shared folder ought to suffice. Mapping it as a drive just changes how you address it [I have not bothered mapping any of my shared folders for years and have not suffered].

I loved Windows Media Center and used it all the time in Windows 7. I followed the work people did to try get it to work in Windows 10. After several failed attempts to try what people suggested I gave up. I had to accept the fact that resurrecting Windows Media Center on Windows 10 was never going to happen.

BTW, when I couldn't get WMC to work on Windows 10 I switched to using Hauppauge's WinTV. WinTV was designed for Hauppauge's own TV tuners. It wasn't as good as WMC but it was better than nothing.

I've just found notes by a TenForums member about having WMC in both Windows 10 & Windows 11 - post #44 & post #47
Perhaps it would be worth seeking advice from @sdowney717

IT works perfect on both 10 and 11, but you have to use a modified installer.

And if you want guide data it costs $25 per year. Using EPG123 that takes data from schedules direct and inserts it into WMC
I do that and here is a screen shot of it running.
Very simple to setup really, instructions are well done.

Guide Data from Schedules Direct is good

Recorded TV. I set to get that from another WMC win !! PC, so I can watch recorded TV on this one here

shot of a live TV OTA broadcast. ALL the old internal tuner cards work, Windows updates installs all the drivers and I have 7 internal cards and an external USB tuner

A lot of people still like WMC that people have made good efforts to make it work well on windows 11

The modified WMC download in EDGE gives a warning and you have to keep the file.
I have been using it for years on win 10 and now win 11 23H2 version.

It runs well on even very old PC's
One of my win 11 WMC PC has 13TB of storage
You can share folders on your network, and other WMC PC can watch
here are some of my networked shared folders
WMC also can work password protected sharing by adding folders manually

Nostalgic but it's a dinosaur! The UI alone has more animations and melodies than the Saturday Morning Cartoons!
... and that's before you even play anything!

WMC setup is about the same as it always was before. There is no more 'play ready' so WMC eventually gives up and moves on in the setup process. I also get DD 5.1 sound when recording and watching WMC TV. The DD sound comes thru the HDMI cable. WMC just seems to work with it, there is a speaker setup for 5.1 and 7.1

No ATSC 1.0 broadcast are encrypted so you do not need play ready. Now I have read ATSC 3.0 is encrypted and you would need an ATSC 3.0 tuner card to take care of that. But also there is not yet much ATSC 3.0 OTA. ALL modern TV are all still watching mostly ATSC version 1.0

Well yeah, but it is very easy and convenient for recording and watching TV OTA on your pc. I have not found anything better than WMC for the job it does.
