Who uses jv16 Power Tools? Does it work the way they describe it? If you accidentally did something wrong (such as deleting a file), can you go back and undo it?
I'm considering this app, but I can easily get myself in trouble 🫤

I used it forever, back in the day.
Last decent version was jv16pt_setup1.3.0.195 ...
I wasn't very fond of the newer versions, and version 1.3... work a bit on Win 7, but after that, they messed it up.


Here's what it used to look like... back when ships were wood and men were iron. :D

jv16 v1.3.0.xxx still installs on Win 11, but do NOT run any of it modules. That would be foolish. ^^
jv16 was sort of like REVO and it's "scan" button.

I only really used the Registry tool, which, like REVO's "scan" button, removed all the leftovers.

    Still assembled, still runs. Haven't turned it on for 15 years?
Nothing against Jouni and his tools...he puts a lot of effort into them.

In general, I have seen more issues than benefits with multi-faceted cleanup and tuneup tools.

I'm sure as a Power User you understand the risks, and are taking the standard precautions.

You could test drive it in a VM as well.

I have a jv16 license but do not use it as program too bloated.

I still use his first software RegCleaner 4.3.0.780.

To get it to work in Win 11 I have a scheduled task set for highest privileges with the target set to start the regcleanr exe.

I open the program with a shortcut set to run the task so it has the privileges to delete or add registry entries and use the other tools within the program.

C:\Windows\System32\schtasks.exe /run /TN "RegCleaner"

Have you used it to find and delete registry orphaned entries?

I spent days trying to run it in a Windows 95 VM with no success.

Works as it should but, like I wrote, the program runs elevated through the task.

Like I wrote I mostly use it to keep track of new registry entries.

Preferences > Marking as old > manual

When set to manual nothing gets changed to old until you check the box next to the entry and select mark as old.

I used to use it & still have the lifetime license but when running it on Win 11 I found that during cleaning it would freeze then close the program. I contacted the dev via their forum who appeared disinterested in helping so I don’t have a positive experience with him. Things he mentioned (not actively working on any updates to power tools & instead working on other software) seemed to suggest that he’d moved on from the power tools program in favour of working on individual programs without a junk cleaner.
