So you HAVE to buy US only anti-virus, because as we all know, the US does not spy in it's citizens. /s

No one says you have to buy US-based anti-virus. Emsisoft, F-Secure, Bitdefender, Panda, Sophos, Trend.... all not banned in the US.

Kaspersky is going to offer an offline AV using AI and heuristics, like HIPS, which used to be effective.
People, who like privacy, do not use realtime AV at all, so I am looking forward to this product. :loveit:

Privacy has been gone out the window a long time. Not sure what your protecting by keeping away from a Realtime AV that isn't already known about you.

Kaspersky is going to offer an offline AV using AI and heuristics, like HIPS, which used to be effective.
Key sentence being "used to be effective". Any offline antivirus is not effective at all. The cloud plays a huge part in preventing malware infection. The old ways of doing definitions does very little to protect you anymore. However it is indeed better than nothing.

Like MS and other AVs reporting user's files to authorities, no other software does that, except cloud now.
The old ways of doing definitions does very little to protect you anymore.
I have not used AV since XP, default deny still beats any AV with a random number of detections.
By used to be I meant people, who knew, how to use it, normal users can not even handle UAC.
Windows has it's own offline/exploit protection, but there are several products, like:

I'm an ex Software Developer, now Splunk consultant, decades of experience working in Financial institutions, where time is money, and security is paramount, and in that environment, no Windows PC, would be without AV software, at a minimum.

All it takes is for numpsy user to open infected/loaded phishing email, or access new malicious website, not yet known to software, and intruders have initial door to system.

My 75 years old mom does not even know, what is AV and I know that her PC is 100% safe without AV. DNS alone mitigates 99% threats, as for the rest, you can simply disable malware in Windows by disabling WSH, PowerShell and such. 🙃
