Windows 11 Beta
Hi Wondering if anyone out there can help.

I have 2 HP laptops both a few years old but running well. One is an i5 the other an i7. This morning whilst installing KB5006050 both hung and on reboot completed the upgrade. Now I have no bottom menu bar on both computers and a spinning blue circle on the bottom menu bar. Frustrating because I cant access a range of programs to work out what has gone wrong.

I've been running Win11 in a VMWare VM on a Surface Pro 6. Checked for System Updates today and I didn't write down the KB number, but I think it's the one in the OP, and I've got similar symptoms:

- no Task Bar
- Windows key does not pop-up the Start menu
- Win+R doesn't bring up the Run dialog box
- <right-click> on desktop cannot open Display Properties*
- only way to shut down is via Task Manager > File > Run new task > shutdown.exe /s /f /t 00

* at first I thought maybe the screen resolution got changed and the Task Bar was off-screen but I since think that's not the case since the other oddities were revealed.

Even if a new release fixes this, how would I access/download it? No response to Windows key to do a Search, no access to Edge or other browser...

:(

I've seen reports on reddit, and it worked for me, to open control panel from task manager, shut off internet time sync and adjust your date forward by a day.

Try ruhgster's suggestion. It worked for me:

Hi WpCoe I have resolved by downloading an ISO version from Microsoft and then reinstalling All of my files and settings were retained. That may have been a blunt force fix but it resolved it on both computers.

On Beta but it never affected me here, I updated pretty much as soon as it appeared, something appears to have gone wrong at some time later.

You got lucky.

Every single article mentions that numerous users / lots of users / the problem is widespread.

None of them say every single user of the Dev and Beta builds was affected.
