Windows 11
Hi. Windows 11 Pro 23H2 Build 22631.4460, Intel i7-11700K CPU & Radeon RX 580 video card. This update just installed yesterday upon which the screen saver / monitor turn off has stopped working. I reset the power settings using "powercfg -restoredefaultschemes", ran "DISM /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth" & deleted / reinstalled / updated the video drivers. All of this was to no avail. No matter what setting I input, no matter what power plan is created, the screen saver will not activate at the configured time & the monitors (3) of them will not turn off at the configured time. As a last resort, I uninstalled this update which was successful and it allowed my screen saver to begin working again although the power off the monitor setting still will not work. I neglected to run a powershell script that is supposed to tell the OS to ignore a update but now the thing reinstalled & am back with the same issue. Help??

Default install of Win11, didn't have the screensaver turned on so did just now, the Preview Test works. My Update History going back to May doesn't show that KB. Looking at the Microsoft Update Catalog page shows it in March.

Thanks Ghot. I installed this & it works fine first out but a bit of a trick trying to get the desktop to show again, not sure which keys / mouse actually activated the monitors as I tried several different before the desktop showed again.
I actually went an additional step by installing the W11 24H2 upgrade from ISO & the screen saver began working again until it decided to download & install new updates so now the Windows built-in screen saver is bricked again....

Two things...

1. There is no specific key or mouse movement. Usually I just move my "wired" mouse a teeny bit.
1a. I only run ONE monitor.

2. I also block all "driver" updates that MS sometimes includes with Windows Updates.
They will still be available, but only as "Optional" updates.

This one tutorial has prevented literally tons of problems with Win 10 and Win 11.
Sometimes... a driver update from MS will "conflict" with an already installed driver.
And that can cause problems.

It's always best to just update drivers manually.

NOTE: Personally, I don't believe in wireless mice or keyboards or controllers. Wired... RULZ !!!
I don't "know" if you have any wireless peripherals, but a wire has to "break" before it can affect things.
With wireless, just about anything can interfere.
1. A stray cosmic ray, or solar flare.
2. Someone's garage door opener or car unlocker.
3. Someone running a ham radio nearby, etc.
4. Wireless devices are supposed to all use different frequencies, but ya never really know.

NOTE2: If you do have any controllers hooked to your computer... it's always best to unhook them, before doing anything important. There have been many topics where the solution turned out to be... someone had left a controller attached. And no... I don't know why this would matter. 🤷‍♂️

As a rule, I typically manually install driver updates, I have not been a fan of what WIndows update provides for drivers.... Learned the hard way several years ago. Mice, yep... I have been a corded mouse user since they were first made available back when OS/2 was the leading competitor to MS but due to arthritis, I had to switch to a more friendly shaped mouse... Logitech MX Vertical which only comes as wireless. Main disadvantage to this one is the DPI is not a high as my Razer corded so little more difficult getting CAD related things done. Anyway, thanks for your information.
