Any help fixing this would be appreciated

Hello @NickJr and welcome to ElevenForum. :-)

It's not a good idea to post your email. ^^

You should probably do this and then try the update again...

Option #2, steps #3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8

Many times, a driver included in a Windows Update will break something.
DELL should have a tool, that will keep your drivers, up to date.

Still assembled, still runs. Haven't turned it on for 13 years?
I was able to get to my desktop by ctrl Alt Delete and swith users to the administrator account
Does it help, when you run explorer.exe from run?
If yes, run CMD as admin and copy/paste (it might help):
Code:
reg add "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon" /v "Shell" /t REG_SZ /d "explorer.exe" /f
reg add "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon" /v "Userinit" /t REG_SZ /d "C:\Windows\System32\userinit.exe," /f
reg add "HKLM\Software\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon" /v "Shell" /t REG_SZ /d "explorer.exe" /f
Another option might be active desktop, but I have not seen that in ages, but just in case, this would help:
Code:
rem Disable Active Desktop
reg add "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\ActiveDesktop" /v "NoAddingComponents" /t REG_DWORD /d "1" /f
reg add "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\ActiveDesktop" /v "NoComponents" /t REG_DWORD /d "1" /f
reg add "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer" /v "ForceActiveDesktopOn" /t REG_DWORD /d "0" /f
reg add "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer" /v "NoActiveDesktop" /t REG_DWORD /d "1" /f
reg add "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer" /v "NoActiveDesktopChanges" /t REG_DWORD /d "1" /f
reg add "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\Explorer" /v "NoDesktop" /t REG_DWORD /d "0" /f
