UPDATE 8/19:

 Windows Blogs:

Hello Windows Insiders, today we are releasing Windows 11 Insider Preview Build 26120.1350 (KB5041871) to the Dev Channel. This update is delivered in a format that offers a preview of enhancements to servicing technology on Windows 11, version 24H2. To learn more, see Introducing Windows 11 checkpoint cumulative updates.

REMINDER: Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel will now receive updates based on Windows 11, version 24H2 via an enablement package (Build 26120.xxxx). For Insiders in the Dev Channel who want to be the first to get features gradually rolled out to you, you can turn ON the toggle (shown in the image below) to get the latest updates as they are available via Settings > Windows Update. Over time, we will increase the rollouts of features to everyone with the toggle turned on. Should you keep this toggle off, new features will gradually be rolled out to your device over time once they are ready.

Turn on the toggle to get the latest updates as they are available to get new features rolled out to you.
Turn on the toggle to get the latest updates as they are available to get new features rolled out to you.

Going forward, we will document changes in Dev Channel builds in two buckets: new features, improvements, and fixes that are being gradually rolled out for Insiders who have turned on the toggle to get the latest updates as they are available and then new features, improvements, and fixes available to everyone in the Dev Channel.

Changes and Improvements gradually being rolled out to the Dev Channel with toggle on*

[General]

  • When installing an MSIX package either locally or via the web (ms-appinstaller://?source=), we are beginning to roll out a change where Microsoft SmartScreen is used to verify the source of the MSIX package and if it’s safe to install.

[Windows Share]

  • We are rolling out the ability to easily share content to an Android device from Windows share window. The feature requires you to pair your Android device to your Windows PC using the Link to Windows app on Android and Phone Link on your PC.

Updated UI for sharing content to an Android device via the Windows share window showing an updated icon in the Nearby Share section.
Updated UI for sharing content to an Android device via the Windows share window showing an updated icon in the Nearby Share section.

Fixes gradually being rolled out to the Dev Channel with toggle on*

[Task Manager]

  • Fixed the issue causing graphs on the Performance page in Task Manager to not show the correct colors when using dark mode again.

Fixes for everyone in the Dev Channel

[Windows Sandbox]

  • We fixed the issue causing Windows Sandbox to fail to launch with error 0x80370106.

[Voice Access]

Known issues

[General]

  • [IMPORTANT] Windows Insiders joining the Dev Channel on PCs running Windows 11, version 24H2 Build 26100.xxxx will see “(repair version)” noted next to the latest Dev Channel build from Windows Update. This is nothing to worry about as all it means is that an in-place upgrade will happen to update your PC to the latest build in the Dev Channel.
  • Adding additional languages or optional features may fail with error 0x800f081f.

[Task Manager]

  • Navigating between different pages in Task Manager may crash Task Manager.

[Input]

  • We’re working on the fix for an issue causing text suggestions for the hardware keyboard to not work properly (selecting one unexpectedly concatenates).
  • [ADDED 6/13] We are working on the fix for an issue causing the emoji panel to close when trying to switch to the kaomoji and symbols sections, or after selecting an emoji.

Reminders for Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel

  • Updates released to the Dev Channel are based off Windows 11, version 24H2.
  • Features and experiences included in these builds may never get released as we try out different concepts and get feedback. Features may change over time, be removed, or replaced and never get released beyond Windows Insiders. Some of these features and experiences could show up in future Windows releases when they’re ready.
  • Many features in the Dev Channel are rolled out using Control Feature Rollout technology, starting with a subset of Insiders and ramping up over time as we monitor feedback to see how they land before pushing them out to everyone in this channel.
  • Some features in active development we preview with Windows Insiders may not be fully localized and localization will happen over time as features are finalized. As you see issues with localization in your language, please report those issues to us via Feedback Hub.
  • Windows Insiders in the Dev Channel who want to be the first to get features gradually rolled out to you*, you can turn ON the toggle to get the latest updates as they are available via Settings > Windows Update. Over time, we will increase the rollouts of features to everyone with the toggle turned on. Should you keep this toggle off, new features will gradually be rolled out to your device over time once they are ready.
  • Because the Dev and Beta Channels represent parallel development paths from our engineers, there may be cases where features and experiences show up in the Beta Channel first.
  • Check out Flight Hub for a complete look at what build is in which Insider channel.
  • Copilot in Windows** is being rolled out gradually to Windows Insiders across our global markets. Customers in the European Economic Area will be able to download the Copilot in Windows experience as an app from the Microsoft Store.

Thanks,
Amanda & Brandon

This doesn't look good,
Same problem on 3 machines after this update. 😝

After going back to 26120.1340, I ran restorehealth, then updated again with the repair version of 26120.1350, and the scanhealth runs now clean. 🤷‍♂️

Downloading was slow and weird, twice from 0 to 100%.
After the update DISM SCANHEALTH finds errors and they are not fixed with RESTOREHEALTH. 🤷‍♂️

Revert to the previous build, reboot and start downloading again, do not use the computer until the download completes, then update it, that's what I do when that happens to me.

Latest updates of DEV 26120.xxxx have been the worse that I have seen in a long time.

Trying this repair version now, but it is pretty slow to download.

On 1330 I was saddled with install error 0x80073713 and didn't figure out why. Used an ISO to get to 1340.

On 1340 I was saddled with install error 0x80028017 and didn't figure out why...until I saw a Feedback item about someone getting 0x80070003 trying to get to 1340. That person removed Windows Sandbox and presto, it then worked.

So I did the same and presto. I suspect this was the reason for my earlier problem, too. I've had Windows Sandbox enabled for years, so this is a recent issue, perhaps related to the Known Issue on Windows Sandbox, I'm leaving it off from now on, since it and anything adjacent to it, like Hyper-V (which I did not have enabled), just make too many black box changes to the host system for comfort.

@ Brink when I still wasn't getting a newer build after checking Windows Insider settings & Windows Update (see image below) I realized my Insider Account became un-linked although I was singed in with my MS Account and Registered in the Insider Program.

After researching a solution I found one on Microsoft Answers by running the two commands below, rebooting, returning to Windows Insider Program settings and then Link your Account again after which you should see the update. (See additional images)

I was also wondering if you could add the code below to your "Join Windows Insider" tutorial as a way to re-link an un-linked account even if already registered.

Code:
bcdedit /set flightsigning on
bcdedit /set {bootmgr} flightsigning on

@ Brink when I still wasn't getting a newer build after checking Windows Insider settings & Windows Update (see image below) I realized my Insider Account became un-linked although I was singed in with my MS Account and Registered in the Insider Program.

After researching a solution I found one on Microsoft Answers by running the two commands below, rebooting, returning to Windows Insider Program settings and then Link your Account again after which you should see the update. (See additional images)

I was also wondering if you could add the code below to your "Join Windows Insider" tutorial as a way to re-link an un-linked account even if already registered.

Code:
bcdedit /set flightsigning on
bcdedit /set {bootmgr} flightsigning on
Those should get set to yes automatically when you join an insider channel. 🤷‍♂️
How did they get tuned off?

I have no idea @fg2001gf11F how the automatic flightsigning settings got turned off as each time in the last few builds when I went to update to a new build I was never offered the Cumulative update even though "Get latest Updates" was toggled on, I was signed in with my Microsoft Account when checking for Updates and checking I was a registered insider through Microsoft Edge.

The only thing I can think of is that I usually switch back to a Local account after updating to a new build and then when a new build comes out next week or so my PC has forgotten that it was linked previously to the Windows Insider Program.

You have probably already started a in place upgrade or have finished. I can tell you from experience yesterday that the problem lies in Build 1330 and now 1350. The in place upgrade did not fix issues for me. I went as for as a clean install and DISM stopped at you guessed it 62.3%. That is when I knew all this trying to find a solution was an exercise in futility. I used a image of Build 1252 made a couple of weeks ago and it does not exhibit any DISM issues. We will just have to wait on MS to recognize they have an issue and then wait for them to fix it.

Note: DISM does not stall as some have suggested. You can look in task manager and still see evidence of it running ie Windows Modules ..... or reference to DISM itself. I haven' t tried it but it is plausible that it may eventually complete in the next few minutes, hours, or days. I am just saying. I Added to Feedback started a week ago. That is the approximate time of the release of DEV build 1330.

Got one machine fixed by going back to 26120.1340 and did retorehealth, and then used the update repair version to update again to 26120.1350.
See shot below.
Really weird behavior starting from 26120.1330 on. 🤷‍♂️
