  • [Open Source Software] This update adds attributions to credits.txt files for Rust OSS components.
  • [Input Method Editor (IME)] When a combo box has input focus, a memory leak might occur when you close that window.

Install this update
Method 1: Install all MSU files together
Download all MSU files for KB5043178 from Microsoft Update Catalog and place them in the same folder (for example, C:/Packages). Use Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM.exe) to install the target update. DISM will use the folder specified in PackagePath to discover and install one or more prerequisite MSU files as needed.

If you want to remove the LCU

To remove the LCU after installing the combined SSU and LCU package, use the DISM/Remove-Package command line option with the LCU package name as the argument. You can find the package name by using this command: DISM /online /get-packages.

Running Windows Update Standalone Installer (wusa.exe) with the /uninstall switch on the combined package will not work because the combined package contains the SSU. You cannot remove the SSU from the system after installation.

These optional Preview CUs never do, but once installed it clearly states so in the Update History. It has always been that way for all releases of W11. Here's my last one for 23H2.

Yes, the SFC never-ending 'fixed' repeat issue is entirely due to KB5043178. No issues in 26100.1742....

I get the error "Install error - 0x800f081f" when attempting to install using Window Update. Not about the download an ISO and start a new install for this!

Downloads to about 11% before it fails.

Like I said, Win 7 never and Win 10 either. Just started on Win 11 and I'll probably stop 🛑. It's a real headache.

Hey everyone, this is my first post :)
I've joined the insider program one month ago and downloaded 26100.1150 RP iso file.
after installation I did not join the insider program in windows settings.
now I'm using the 26100.1882 build number but after upgrading from 1742 to 1882 my PC is slowing down and also I have sfc/scannow loop problem.
so I'm going to download the official 1742 iso file tomorrow to clean install it on my laptop.
is there 1882 update available for public channel or it's only for release preview channel?

From 26100.1742, you'll be offered 1882 through Windows Update.

It'll probably have the sfc issue, as well as the disk cleanup issue.

yeah, I have the disk cleanup issue too. it's always showing me that I have 8GB temporary files from windows update and whenever I choose to delete them, it can't do it. it's just there like a nightmare :ROFLMAO:
do you mean this problem, or this happens only for me?

after clean installation of windows I have to run the windows update to install my drivers. is there any way to only prevent the 1882 update?

Welcome to Eleven Forum.

Both 26100.1742 and .1882 are now in the General Availability channel (aka the public build). The sfc loop issue is only in .1882. This is offered as an optional update, or installed automatically, depending on whether you have 'get the latest updates...' turn off or on in Windows Update.

You should be able to avoid another clean install, just turn off 'get the latest updates...' then uninstall the KB5043178 (.1882) update.

When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. Yeah, but broke SFC...

In my case I wondered if it was because I removed the Recovery partition from .1742

I still have a 1000 MB recovery partition.
I have found over the years with Windows that sometimes it just takes a few sleeps for things to fix themselves. 🤭🫢
