.NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8.1
The November 21, 2024 update for Windows 11, version 22H2 and Windows 11, version 23H2 includes security and cumulative reliability improvements in .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8.1. We recommend that you apply this update as part of your regular maintenance routines. Before you install this update, see the Prerequisites and Restart requirement sections.

Security Improvements

There are no new security improvements in this release. This update is cumulative and contains all previously released security improvements.

Quality and Reliability Improvements

.NET Runtime- Addresses an issue where in rare cases where an infinite loop could occur when a thread enters CLR for the first time.

Along with this .NET Framework update, there is also an update KB5046732 for 22631.4541 (23H2) available from the Microsoft Update Catalog.

This installs as boringly routine. I have no real idea what wonderful new little marvels it contains (I'm sure Brink will inform us) but I haven't found any obvious drawbacks so far ... I did make a precautionary backup first though.

The DISM health checks plus the sfc scan showed no issues.
