Windows 11
It seemed to go well all the process (that also installed fine KB890830 -MSRT- and KB5059200 -.NET 8.0.16-), and I was believing it was installed (the system's running well) until I went to WU and saw the fail there. There was a button to retry, but clicking it did a WU search that reported that everything's up to date (KB5058411 isn't listed as installed).

I shut down, waited a bit, booted up and tried looking for updates again with the same result, "everything's up to date".

This is the first time this computer fails a cummulative update. It's a miniPC based on a Celeron J4125 (10th gen) with 8GB RAM, 256GB "eMMC", Ethernet, Wifi, etc and that started as Windows 10, upgraded to Windows 11 through WU (that was offered as promised by the maker) and afterwards to 22H2 and 23H2 just fine.

24H2 failed until two ancient MS drivers (XPS document driver and PDF printer driver) were uninstalled (I could reinstall them in 24H2 once the following CU was installed, behaviour that I had seen reported in a link I don't have now). In the way I also uninstalled ZoneAlarm that had caused issues and was causing slowness. Since suceeding 24H2 in 12/30/2024, it has installed 4 CUs w/o issues.

I have a very recent Macrium Reflect backup that I'm considering. Is it normal after a failure like this that "everything's up to date" for a time (say), or does this sound more as something corrupted?

Hi @JLArranz

First to make it easier for people here at Elevenforums to help you could you please fill in your system details in your profile?

Have you tried running any SFC and DISM commands such as sfc /scannow from an elevated command prompt to weed out any corruption and other issues?

There is an issue with it hanging at 62.3%, cannot recall off the top of my head what the fix is though.

There have been differences with the previous attempt:

- Tuneup_plus_log.bat has produced only the text file Tuneup.log instead of a zip with several files.
- It ended with a screen advising to copy-paste Tuneup.log in the post. I do it but I also post a share link.
- The RestoreHealth phase has been a lot shorter, instead of getting stuck 40-50 minutes at about 60%, it has either ended abruptly or gone very fast from about 60% to end.
- In C:\Windows\Logs\CBS I still have the above posted CbsPersist_20250515170823.cab and CbsPersist_20250515173213.cab, that aren't NTFS-compressed. I have a new CbsPersist_20250516075335.log that is NTFS-compressed, and CBS.log is newer and NTFS-compressed (unlike yesterday, I believe). I post only the latter two files here.
- I have renamed CBS.log to CBS_2.log (and the new "fltmc_etc.log" is named fltmc_etc_2.log).

0x8007045b = ERROR_SHUTDOWN_IN_PROGRESS ( Windows Error Code 0x8007045b: What's It & How To Fix ). Likely transient, as the system has worked fine in every moment including manual shutdowns and bootups.

I've searched in the Spanish files (with the help of AviHex and Agent Ransack) and I haven't found 0x8007045b either. SFC "fixed" some lacking shortcuts in the Start Menu, nothing more (it's only a manual customization). RestoreHealth did repairs because ScanHealth had reported that "Component Store can be repaired" (instead of "No component store corruption detected") and visibly RestoreHealth took extra time. Chkdsk didn't find anything.

KB5058411 isn't listed in Windows Update history but...

Edition Windows 11 Pro
Version 24H2
Installed on ‎12/‎30/‎2024
OS build 26100.4061 =================> KB5058411 is actually installed?
Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.26100.84.0

The WU process went smooth, WU reports "up to date", and 0x8007045b is likely transient or fixed.

Windows is much more complicated than I can think, but this looks like the actual update is installed (if some step was actually missed, it should have been fixed by DISM /RestoreHealth).

With this info/assumptions I'm discarding restoring my pre-WU Macrium Reflect image. It's a risk if this update has issues in this system (or was affected by a previous problem in the Component Store) or in general. The same goes for downloading it from the Catalog and trying to install it over. I'll reconsider this (specially the latter) if the June CU has problems or it's better a manual install over.

WU history is a "peripheral" thing. I caught this notion when I had problems with KB5034441 in Windows 10 and I had to download and install updates from the Catalog. The CU was annotated with a different name, the .NET update was comprised of 2 different manual updates (with different KB number) that were annotated, and in replacement of KB5034441 I installed its equivalent SafeOS version, what didn't annotate anything in the WU history. This didn't affect subsequent CUs or .NET updates. WinRE updates went on with problems but I don't think it was for the WU history list.
