I always install free LibreOffice on my Windows Insider Build and set the default Save as format to MS Office, I also have the PortableApps version of LibreOffice handy which is great if you just did a Clean Install and need to read a Word Document when no support for the .docx format is yet available.

Recently I have been testing LibreOffice as an alternative for my present Office program, which is rather old. Unfortunately they still haven't solved the problem, that many, really a huge amount of fonts are installed when installing the program. No options for not installing them. So I would have to uninstall them all one by one.

And they still have no solution for hiding all those unwanted fonts, that are installed with Windows. Chinese, Thai, you name it, they are on the system. You can easily disable them for use in any Windows program, using a register trick, but LibreOffice does not 'listen' to those registry changes at all. All fonts are still there, a huge list to scroll throught every time I need some font deep in the list.

That did not change since they took over from OpenOffice (must have been about 2010) and already then there were many complaints about those unwanted fonts. And until today complaints came, but the devs won't listen or can't establish a solution.

So no Libre Office for me. I found a better Office package, but this is not the right place to mention it. ;-)
