Are updates cumulative? I.e., if I miss one, will the next one catch me all the way up?

Sort of....

You can wait and miss out one or more updates, the patch you will download will always contain all that's required to take you to the latest version. If you leave it long enough that will need to be the full installer for the latest version.

I think I'm good. I'm on the paid version. I get notices that updates are available and always download them right away.

I waited for 3 days so I can look at this forum before installing the update LOL but it's all good, no problems

I never really saw the point in waiting - make an image backup before updating, making sure you have a boot drive of version before update, then update. If any issues, revert.

It is actually very rare a Reflect update actually affects the integrity of the backup or restore.

I don't bother updating my boot media anymore either, the effort of updating boot media so many, many times is more than a very rare re-install, I can't even recall the last time I did a re-install on my main machine.

So, yeah, I backup to secure my user data (I use MR File and Folder backup) not for the convenience of avoiding the very rare re-install.

Edit: I also use RoboCopy that can't boot the machine either LOL but provides an additional means to secure user data
