Latest Realtek LAN Driver (Win11)

10.63 driver for Windows 10 (it works better than the dedicated Windows 11 driver, it can cause 100Mbps limited speed).

My issue with newer Realtek drivers is a delay. When I launch a video or audio file, there is a 2 or 3 second delay before it starts. The delay also affects the video if it's a video file. I have to revert back to driver from mid '21 to get these files to start without delay. I tried turning off any enhancements within the newer drivers, but to no avail. Anyone know of a permanent fix for this?

A newer driver isn't always better. Some improve newer models leaving older models unchanged. Even worse, to keep driver size small some manufacturers remove features from older models reducing performance. In that case install an older driver that you know it works best for you and block any driver updates with Windows Update Show Hide Tool (hide the update).

Disregard my post above (#4). When I read the title of this thread, my mind saw Audio driver... probably because it's been on my mind and have been working on the issue. I just noticed now this thread is about their LAN driver!

10.63 driver for Windows 10 (it works better than the dedicated Windows 11 driver, it can cause 100Mbps limited speed).

eventually Realtek released an official 10.63 Win10 driver on their web site this past Fri. Nov. 25

for Win11 users - v1124.10, 1125.10, 1166.10 & 1168.10 "repacked" (released 11/25/2022)

{direct link to the Nov. 2022 Win11 Realtek PCIe LAN version posted 11/25/2022, which includes the 10.63 driver instead of 10.62)

you're gonna have to contact the PC manufacturer of your computer & obtain updated realtek audio drivers from the manufacturer web site, rick99. Realtek ain't gonna release new audio drivers on their web site anymore. Realtek is only releasing new PCIe LAN/USB LAN/WLAN driver versions for Win11 on their site

I got the latest driver from the Lenovo site. These newer drivers introduce a delay when launching audio... including video files. I guess the driver goes into a sleep state and requires time to wake. I modified some reg settings I found on another site and this solves the problem for now. It would be nice to solve it without manually modifying the registry.

Thanks to 10 year old energy star and other 'green' regulations across the globe - you'll find 'Power Saving Mode', 'Energy Efficient Ethernet', 'Gigabit Lite', and 'Green Ethernet' are all enabled by default. You don't opt-in, you have to opt out. These settings are great for seldom used machines that you want to run at 500 mpbs (check Gigabit lite), and have a second or so latency to stream. Typically great settings for offices with hundreds or thousands of machines where the avg of 5 watts saved can add up. For home enthusiast users however, its really silly for these to be enabled on desktops by default. (laptops on battery, I get it). Anyway, if you are using the latest Windows 11/10 drivers in this post and getting strange lagging, try turning off Gigabit lite and Green Ethernet to start with, and the rest of these if that doesn't solve it before reverting to an older driver.

At this point I would like to add that I was using Windows Update drivers at our work computer. One day that we had less work to do I was updating the applications to newer versions including the drivers. I checked Realtek's site and found separate drivers for Windows 10 (NDIS 6.0 type) and Windows 11 (don't remember, it was different type). Out of curiosity I downloaded the Windows 11 drivers and installed them. I didn't expect any difference, but I was surprised to find out an increase in performance! Probably the Windows 11 type has better resource management than NDIS. So I recommend to backup your current drivers and try the Windows 11 drivers. If you have any issue just restore the previous drivers, but something tells me you will be surprised.

I opened a terminal and i gave this:
Get-NetAdapterRss
It was empty so i installed the windows 10 driver And with Get-NetAdapterRss i take this:
1.jpg

So i contacted realtek and they answer this:
Realtek PCIE LAN ncx driver does not support RSS feature in Windows 11 at present.

So for better cpu resources and speed use the last ndis windows 10 driver.

There are two types of drivers in Realtek's site. The latest for Windows 10 (NDIS 6.2 type) that also works in Windows 11, and another type (don't remember how it is called) specifically for Windows 11. I have installed the Windows 11 type and my network feels faster. It also enabled a ton of advanced features giving you much more control than the NDIS type.

The types are two: ndis 6.4 and NetAdapterCx.
The netadaptercx support generally rss but realtek don't support it. The ndis work.
