Windows XP,11 Linux Fedora Rawhide pre-release 45
Hi folks
The long awaited Linux kernel 7.0 now out - on Fedora pre-release (Rawhide) F45 - works brilliantly and runs W11 VM's under KVM/QEMU brilliantly.

With brillianf FAST video editing / photoshop / adobe lightroom etc - I can't see any need for running W11 on a real machine any more.
Kernel 7.0 should silence all those Linux doubters that it has no place on the desktop.

Now please Windows -- still a great OS but 1) update the NTFS filesystem to ahave a bit more resiliency --it's not too bad considering it's nearly 25 years old , and 2) make your update procedures not so bonkers -- I just type in Linux one command dnf upgrade and the whole kybosh just works and in around 2 mins - 3GB updates and all the other stuff removed. Why does windows often take 2 or 3 re-boots and 40 mins to upgrade !!!!.

I know Windows has far more hardware etc devices but these days that's not an issue any more on even recent hardware - and for Linux it runs even on quite ancient hardware while W11 gets more restrictive by the day without really adding anything to the table that around 85% of normal Windows users want to use - in fact they'd probably still be happier on W10 !!!.

Cheers

The fundamental flaw in your post is that vms running under KVM/QEMU require actuvation to be fully functional and most already have host pc activated versions of windows.

With a bit of jiggery pokery, you might be able to activate 1 vm (legally and we are not permitted to discuss illegal activation).

Your reasoning is also flawed i.e. use Fedora and use vms as host W11 is "restrictive". The same restrictions (vague statement that you do not specify specify) would apply in a vm.

I accept that you could bypass w11 installation constraints but you can! do that anyway on pcs in a number of ways.

Also, what percentage of PC users actually use Fedora - I bet it is lower that 10% of the 5% of Linux pc users i e. 0.5% of pc users (and that is being generous).
