Solved Looking for a particular picture...

Someone posted a picture, here or on TenForums, showing the various cable types (across the top), with the various refresh rates possible, down the left side. I want that picture... but I can't find it again.



Well... derp... I found it. It wasn't on 10 or 11 Forums.

I think I had what is known as a... senior moment.



Whenever I see a pic I think might be useful in the future, I save it.
In this case it was on an entirely different forum.

But I found it again.

As an octo I deal with that every day.

When I googled... all I could find was HDMI versions vs. refresh rate.
I wanted the pic with Display Port as well.


I blame typing instructors.
Everyone used to make picture references. But now, everyone can type 100+ words a minute, so all we get are these 18 page text walls of information, rather than a simple picture, graph, etc.


With the graphics hardware we have today... we could even have x, y, z, graphs or charts.
But no... those evil typists. We should break all their fingers.
Just leave them with one forefinger so they can mouse their way through an image editor.

I seldom use Google Search, prefer DuckDuckGo. For this particular search I used the dialog box on tenforums.

And many of the pictures on the 'net aren't appropriately named, carry generic names such as image.png or simply a number, hard to store without having to type.

As far as types of cables, going back in memory there's 15-pin VGA, 9-pin COMM, 25-pin COMM, 25-pin LPT then we got into IEEE-1394, USB, HDMI, multi-pin DVI, DP. That's not covering the internal cables that have also changed over time and technology. My new [April] Dell Vostro Desktop did not come with VGA for the onboard video, does have HDMI and DP so I use an adapter from DP to VGA for my KVM.

I still have the pic of all the old connectors. I save... everything.

Good idea.

The oldest things I have on these hard drives are from... 2008.
I still have all my older hard drives, with their data, in boxes, all the way back to my IDE drives. LOL

Ghot, i think i am in the same boat, i have saved almost ever fix i have done for Malware removal in the past, you would not believe all the files !!

The oldest PATA/IDE drive I have is from a Notebook I gave my son about 25 years ago, could toss it but it has his company books 'just in case'.

Yeah I would.
I still have a pic of all my Services settings from Windows XP.
Or all the settings for the last "good" Zonealarm free firewall.

Of course. I was a Kansas farmboy in the '40s and '50s and we saved everything since our main shopping towns were about 30 miles away and never knew what would break or what we could use to fix it. I even rented a small farm in the '70s for 3 years to give the 3 kids the continuing education schools could only talk about.

Tractors, pickups, farm trucks, cars. My girls learned to drive stick on the farm with a '46 Jeep.

Now how much fun could you have with your girlfriend sitting beside you driving a stick shift in the floor !!
