Hi folks
Macrium has no problems restoring a Windows image created by a VM using KVM/QEMU and restoring it to a standard Microsoft vhdx (physical disk) after updating a VM and then restoring to a physical machine. (You'll still need to update the boot loader -- simple enough to do with bcdboot though). Done this way you still keep "Digital License" and activation too.
This is simply using the FREE version of Macrium -- I'm not sure how competant other backup / restore programs are at handling this type of stuff -- makes life a lot easier if you use a lot of VM's and test Windows installs.

Another plus for Macrium.
Cheers
