Macrium Reflect worked perfectly but Windows invaded

I have been testing backup software. Just got done making and restoring an image using Macrium Reflect. The whole process went smoothly. Perfect. Only thing I don't like is when I rebooted my computer Windows took over and starting saying things like: Diagnosing your computer. Starting PC repair. Windows could not repair your PC. Choose advanced options or choose Shut Down.

I chose Shut Down.

Then I powered my laptop back up and got back to the lock screen and the desktop.

Is there any way to prevent Windows from displaying that message and going through that crap?

I don't suppose there is, which means whenever I do a restore operation, I will be looking at that stuff.

Do you know if the system was MBR or GPT partitioned? There are some repair commands which may be able to help.

Assuming a GPT disk...
These are the partitions you should be backing up...

00000 Default Windows partitions.webp



The minimum partitions you absolutely need to boot Windows, are the Windows partition and the EFI System partition.
If you have the MSR and Recovery partitions... they should be backed up as well.

It may be due to the fact that you don’t reply to threads you start or make any indication if a members suggestion helped you or mark threads as solved or show any gratitude to members who assist you.
Macrium won’t work correctly under these conditions.

Open a command prompt as Admin, and use these two commands (yellow underline).
If your disk(s) are GPT they will show an asterisk (red box).

If there's no asterisk, the disk(s) are MBR.

I always choose shutdown when restoring a backup with zero issues. I am using MR X though.

But if a guy buys into Reflect X won't his credit card get charged $50.00 a year? Unless he could cancel before then and still be able to use the rescue media he created to make backups and do restore operations.

Step #1 in the far left pic, is the important step. It will automatically choose the correct partitions to backup....

The far right pic, is how to make the Bootable Rescue Media, which you WILL need. :-)






Personally, I always make Macrium backups from within Windows.
I always restore a backup using the Macrium bootable Rescue Media.

A very useful tool included in the Macrium bootable Rescue media, is shown in the pic below...

It would help if you could post a screen shot of Disk Management.








To post a screenshot on this forum...​

1. Take the screenshot, (or camera pic), edit it as desired, save to your desktop as .png or .jpg (max. size = 2MB)
2. Left click in your post, where you want to place the screenshot.
3. Click the Attach Files button at lower left, browse to your image and select it.
4. Then click Insert, I usually choose the Thumbnail (smaller) option, or there is a Full Image (larger) option.

You should see an error code. What is it?

Use Macrium recovery disk and select "fix boot issues"

My disk looks like this:

There was no error codes. I am using the bootable rescue disk to make both the backup and the restore.

As far as "fix boot issues" do I just click Next and Finish and that's it?

This is very challenging getting a completely new computer and operating system at the same time.

Just to add Macrium already has preselected all disks when I get to the GUI. I don't think there is any problem there.
