Make Media Server work on W11

On the prior computer, from which i upgraded at the start of this week, i had Media Player/Server working great - i could watch all my mp4 movies across the wireless connection on my bedroom TV.

On this new installation i moved my "Videos" folder to "D:\BEM\Videos". I verified that the icon changed, and i verified in the registry that
Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders
My Video key is set to D:\BEM\Videos

When i try to watch a video on the TV from the server, the TV recognizes the server (as indicated by the new computer name), but the Videos folder is empty. Actually, the sequence is the selection of my computer as the server, "Videos" | "Folders" and Folders shows "0" where prior to the new computer it would show a number corresponding to the number of folders i had with mp4 files. Selecting "Folders" just winds up in an endless wait.

I have tried re-indexing the location "D:\BEM" and all sub-folders, but that didn't solve it.

I verified that in "D:\BEM\Videos" properties were set to optimize for video including all subfolders

I suspect i missed an obvious step somewhere. Can someone please help me troubleshoot this?

I use Mezzmo on my Mini PC so I don't have an answer for you. Hopefully my post will help your post to get seen by someone who may be able to help.

Well, i don't know for sure, but in the matter of maybe 15 minutes Mezmo seems to have achieved what i wasted a week trying to get Windows Media Server to do. Will have to await final configuration and trial, but it looks like i'm headed to buying their "Pro" version...

You only need the Pro version if you want access your content from the internet. I have a Pro license that I bought and years ago. The license is still good but I didn't use it to activate. I only use Mezzmo on my home network.
Edit: I did use the license years ago. I just recently got back into streaming my content and I didn't see any need for internet access.

I use Emby but using WiN10 but should be more the same. I found Emby better than Plex but just my 2¢
