Map your world with Map builder on Bing

  • Staff
We live in a world where the geography around us is rapidly changing. As you walk around your neighborhood you may notice a new street, a building, or other items that are not reflected on your favorite map.

Are you passionate about how your neighborhood is represented on the map? Do you want to help everyone by building a community powered worldwide map? Read on to find out how you can join a community of mappers that use their local knowledge to make the map better!

With the goal of empowering people with the most up-to-date maps worldwide, we would like to introduce you to Map builder, a community-driven platform of contributors to map data. While you share accurate information about your community, so do other members to help everyone navigate and discover places around the world. Where does all this community generated map information go? Map builder contributes directly to OpenStreetMap - a free, publicly editable and community driven map of the world.

"OpenStreetMap (OSM) is a world map, built by contributors like you. OSM members maintain data about roads, trails, cafés, railway stations, and much more, all over the world.

The Bing Maps team has partnered with OSM for Map builder. Any edits submitted that are approved for Bing Maps will also show up on OSM. Your Map builder activity feeds to OpenStreetMap through a private OSM account linked to your Microsoft account..."
