Hi folks
for people who like to use MariaDB / MySQL databases remotely - even if you are on a Windows VM and the DB is on the Host system (that as far as the VM is concerned) is a remote system.

Note the MySQL db here is NOT MySQL from Microsoft but the equivalent to the now much more used free open source Mariadb (source and command compatible). It's the same file whether on Windows or Linux -- not sure what the directory name on Windows is but I'm sure it's easily findable.

Simply change the bind-address parameter in the MariaDB / MySQL configuration file on the machine containing th DB you want to access and restart the mariadb server to 0.0.0.0.

The default setting is to localhost access only.
