UPDATE 2/14:

Version 2302 (Build 16130.20128)

Feature updates

Excel

  • Reducing unwanted fragmenting of conditional formatting rules: Check out the speed-up in workbooks with lots of unwanted fragmented conditional formatting rules. When a workbook is opened this feature will merge those fragmented conditional formatting rules that are identical, within a contiguous range of cells, and with unchanged priority ordering. It excludes rules whose evaluation relies on a selection range like Above or Below average, Unique or Duplicate, Gradients, etc. and rules in PivotTables.
  • User-defined permissions now support domain name restrictions: When you choose a sensitivity label configured for user-defined permissions, you can now use domain names to restrict file access to all individuals from that domain. For example, you can specify “someone@example.com” or “@example.com,” and permissions will be restricted based on either the individual or all individuals within the example domain.

Outlook

  • Sensitivity Label scoping between files, emails and meetings: Office applications can now filter out sensitivity labels based on the document type. For example, Outlook email will no longer show labels that only apply to Word/Excel/PowerPoint documents.

PowerPoint

  • Present a local file in PowerPoint Live: The "Present in Teams" button has been extended to present local files in PowerPoint Live in Microsoft Teams.

Word

  • User-defined permissions now support domain name restrictions: When you choose a sensitivity label configured for user-defined permissions, you can now use domain names to restrict file access to all individuals from that domain. For example, you can specify “someone@example.com” or “@example.com,” and permissions will be restricted based on either the individual or all individuals within the example domain.

  • We fixed an issue where when opening a report in Print Preview on 64-bit, Access caused an error message to appear.

  • We fixed an issue where Excel might close unexpectedly when loading foreign files while there are drawing objects in the active sheet.
  • We fixed an issue that compiled VBA macros more often.
  • Fixed an issue where large cell selection operations might fail in virtual machine environments.
  • Fixes an issue where some labels weren't associated with their textboxes in an auto created form.

Outlook

  • Fixed an issue where emails would fail to load if using a COM Add-in that modified a mail during the send event, and had a Web Add-in Installed.
  • We fixed an issue that caused S/MIME users to receive an NDR when selecting the "Send Unencrypted" option.
  • We fixed an issue that caused users of Dark Mode to be unable to read attachment names in Tasks and Contacts.
  • We fixed an issue that caused attendees to see the wrong end date on All Day Events when explicitly opening the item.
  • We fixed an issue that caused users to be unable to view Actionable messages, restart, or shut down Windows after cancelling a Windows restart operation.
  • We fixed an issue where some users were getting high CPU and heavy flicker while scrolling around in the calendar.

PowerPoint

  • We fixed an issue where when user previews animation on Cameo, the application sometimes closes unexpectedly.
  • We fixed an issue where PowerPoint was not responding and then closed unexpectedly when using the Compare function within Review menu.
  • We fixed an issue where the user is not able to add or copy/paste a new slide to the presentation.
  • We fixed an issue where the document was perceived as 'dirty' when handling encrypted documents and document properties. This led to the user getting a 'save changes?' when closing the document even if they had not made any modifications.

Project

  • We fixed an issue where upon opening an MPP file, you see the following error:
"An import error occurred.

Check row 1 column 5.

To continue importing with additional error messages, click Yes. To continue importing with no error messages, click No. To stop importing, click Cancel."
  • We fixed an issue so that progress lines now scroll vertically together with their tasks when a Gantt type view is scrolled up and down.
  • We fixed an issue where the task pane add-in API for Microsoft Project does not always set or get values for the following properties: ConstraintType, EarnedValueMethod, FixedCostAccrual, OutlineLevel, PercentComplete, PercentWorkComplete, Priority, Status, Type, Active, Milestone, Summary

Word

  • Resolved an issue where using Word VBA function InsertFile to insert .docx file would result in 'Error: 5097 - Word has encountered a problem'.
  • Resolved an issue where selecting text inside a text box could cause the application to close suddenly.
  • Fixed an issue when the last key was released quickly, sometimes AutoComplete wouldn't perform.

  • Fixed an issue where attempting to open an .odt files with a table would result in an error message, "Word found unreadable content. Do you want to recover this document".
  • Resolved an issue with Selection.Repeat command when used after Selection.TypeText and Selection.TypeParagraph commands.
  • Resolved an issue where Check-out business bar not displaying when opening files from SPO with file path longer than 260 characters.
  • Resolved an issue when linked objects update mode is set to manual, on file reopen the link will never update properly, regardless of clicking yes/no on the dialog.
  • We fixed an issue where applying the blockcontentexecutionfrominternet policy would prevent files containing an embedded macro to no longer to run.

Office Suite

  • We fixed the re-direction behavior that allow redirection for HTTPS, and disabled the cookies for security.
  • We fixed an issue where leading spaces were unexpectedly removed when importing SVG images in Office 365.
  • We fixed an issue in PowerPoint record window in case of audio or video hardware issue. In case either the audio or video hardware fails to provide picture or voice then we were waiting indefinitely with an assumption that this should never happen when the initial communication with those devices are successful. The changes will no longer make that assumption and fail sooner, so that the user can toggle (off/on) the devices and try to record again.
  • We fixed an issue that caused a Mandatory Label warning bar to show even though the policy has Default label on it. The issue is for Word, Excel, or PowerPoint documents in OneDrive. The fix checks if default label application was ever attempted.
