I've had this app for a few lots of (thanks @Bree for pointing that out) weeks but it's always said my account isn't authorised to use it yet, just had an update through the store for it and things have seemingly moved on, now I get this..........

To be honest, I have no idea. I was just checking to see if it would install on my end. I'll be uninstalling it shortly.

Perhaps they can use that terminology in person to person communication but, not inscribed across a major element of their software!

When 11 was released on 5th October 2021 it was re-imaged back to 10 and was offered the upgrade in Windows Update on 20th October. I'm gonna be honest with ya...,
I despise Microsoft on so many levels, but, I've always respected them, being one the world's leading software manufacturing corporations...,
but that too is waning rapidly.

I have never had an issue with Microsoft. I have always respected them and been grateful for all they have made possible. Apple I have issues with but they're all concerned with pricing and the closed model approach. I give them credit for building very good hardware but that's it.

I have not looked but are you saying that possibly due to one or more laws in the EU that Windows Defender is not installed as part of the OS outside of the United States?

I still don't get it. Is this like the Enterprise version of Defender? Defender for businesses? It's going to require a subscription so what happens to the free Windows Defender?
