Windows 11
I am helping my friend out and her laptop with windows 11 was used by someone who managed to change some things. There are actually two issues,
1. The language for the logon screen is in a different language - no biggie because the rest of windows 11 is in the language wanted. Where do I change the setting for language on the login screen (screen that shows your time and then the date and also contains the user profile. Sorry, thats is not really an edge problem but i dont know where to post it.
2. Microsoft Edge seems to use a customised version of google as the start page. I have tried to reset it by going to the apps on the settings page but although it resets it it puts the customised setting back in place, not what I want since I am not given the option if I want to keep the settings (which I dont) or not. Please help if possible.

Sounds like she has a browser redirect of some description hijacking google. I suggest that you use Malwarebytes to run a scan over the PC and clear out these sort of things.

For the log in screen go to settings - Time and language -Administrative language settings and check 'Change system local' to your language then OK. Under Welcome screen and new user accounts select 'copy settings' then select the box to copy your current settings to: Welcome screen and system accounts and ok.

As for Edge go to Windows settings -installed apps - scroll down to Microsoft Edge and and select modify then repair.

Thank you @Fabler2 the language on the logon screen has been changed, however the repair of microsoft Edge didnt fix the problem, it tells me that it is download Edge and then reinstalling it, it says in the begging that my browsing history and settings or whatever will not be lost - therein lies the problem because those settings are what is causing the google or something redirect. Is it possible to reinstall edge (untouched) as it came out of the box without applying the settings already existing?

@wimorrison - I will give your suggestion of malwarebytes a try. Thankyou.

If you're sure all settings and extensions ok then Malwarebytes has a specific tool for removing pups, hijackers etc.

I would use as last resort if you can't find anything in Edge settings.

Suddenly it seems to have come right, there was an app call noxplayer in the installed apps that I tried several times to uninstall but everytime it says it cant uninstall because it cant find a file and it also says that reinstalling may fix the problem. I decided to try and find noxplayer so I could try and install it and then uninstall it. When I went to a site to download this noxplayer, edge suddenly started showing the features of edge and everything looked right. Ill restart in a bit and see if its still ok. I also get this message from edge - see attachment, previously I got one saying 28 passwords were at risk. Scam or legitimate?
