... namely, the removal of straggler data in the Registry via a "deep uninstall" function. Has anyone done a head-on-head comparison of uninstalls using Revo and PC Manager?

MS claim in that link that "Microsoft PC Manager is a utility app for your PC that effortlessly enhances PC performance with just one click."

Anytime I read an unproven claim like that by a software developer, I run the other way like Usain Bolt.

Hahaha. If it’s Microsoft and it’s not Windows or Office, it’s all but useless to me. Even those two need heavily refined to run (what I and 99999 million others deem to be) properly

Was barely released couple hours ago (or yesterday) - i think...

Tho, as usual - Microsoft is 10 years behind - with features like this one (an Uninstaller with Deep Scan). It's rather amusing to see the advertisement:

"Uninstalling apps? No worries about leftover data! Our new feature detects residual files—caches, configurations, and even registry entries. Easily remove them with just one click."

When this feature is/was rather basic for most uninstallers - released even up till 2014 (no, i didn't mean 2025 but 2014). A bit ironic, as the 1st Microsoft branded tool "to include a Registry cleaner" - which is something Microsoft was always officially and loudly against (at least for past 2 decade or so).

On the bright side, it has some potential - as a quick access UI (most in one place) - to some core Windows features (updates, av scanner, storage cleaner - even web tools - for currency convertor, Bing translator - yes - based on Bing - but it's better this days). Also comes with the options - to revert back to Microsoft proprietary apps (like Edge as default browser, Microsoft Office as default - office manager, restoring Taskbar to default settings and such)" - but that's just Microsoft being Microsoft.

Whether it's behind or not is not the issue, no one knows Windows better than Microsoft as it is their proprietary code as it's not open sourced but remember PC Manager is not developed by Microsoft Headquarters as in Redmond, Washington USA but rather Microsoft China and it's a free product. And remember the Microsoft today is not the western caucasian Microsoft either, look at Skype and it dying as in Steve Ballmer's or Bill Gates's Microsoft but rather, it's someone from India as a immigrant's Microsoft so things are different as the leadership at the top is different.

Microsoft ofcourse when they did make it, hardware like keyboards and mouse's are good but their software side is another issue but remember they are one of a few companies with trillion dollar market capitalizations.

Did they actually make their hardware or outsource it to be made to their specs? IMHO the best devices with the Microsoft name was their phones.

No idea if they made it themselves or outsource it but like keyboards and mouses, if you ever had a problem, all you had to do is call 1-800-360-7561 and provide a photocopy of the sticker of the product and they will send you a new one. Remember for mouses, there are two standards. Mouse Systems and Microsoft and every other mouse including Logitech would operate in one of the two modes. Microsoft only made one phone called the Microsoft Phone which was a cordless landline home phone. The other phones was really Nokia after Microsoft bought out Nokia and ofcourse the big players are Apple and Android when it came to smart phones.

That's interesting as the after picture should not have things that are not in the before picture. It should be the before picture with things removed if you decided tor remove them.

They're not in the BEFORE picture because I added them.... AFTER.

First, I removed all the "junk". Then I added what MS didn't include.

Matches mine exactly. All games ... gone! Anything "experience ... gone!! (Screams "phoning home") Any media software, except "extensions" ... gone!! (my 3rd party preferences are so superior), and all the other nefarious trinkets and baubles that are included to amuse the masses

Unfortunately Microsoft have done the dirty on you (and as has happened to me). Microsoft Edge has snuck into the After, when it wasn't in the BEFORE in the first place, and was not added by you/me. But I'm happy to leave well enough alone.

And Revo beats the cr4p out of the perfunctory and superficial -AppxPackage command line (which doesn't do much more than simply removing the start menu entry)

I just edited that in the pic above... to prevent confusion.

When I originally made that pic, it was from Windows 11, back in Oct. 2021.
So I asked @Bree to send me a pic of his untouched REVO, and used that for the BEFORE.

Tonight I just updated the BEFORE and the AFTER.

Your Calculator grew 20% in size in the after compared to the before too. You should try the same test with MS PC Manager and see what the results are for comparison.

That won't prove anything. -AppxPackage command line would achieve the same, just hiding the program name.

The best test would be a clean install, full update, run -Appx{ackage options, check size of drive. Then do the same with MS PC Manager. Then do the same with Revo, which will positively show the amount of drive space recovered (which, in terms of efficiency, would be comparatively negligible, but for a Windows 4n4l-retentive like me, that's a sense of achievement)

Nah... MS comes out with these knock offs of other well accepted programs.
I haven't seen any of them that work as well as the 3rd party versions.

Like...

Backup software, Winaero Tweaker, and now REVO... are just the few that come to mind.
