OS
Windows 11
This happens every now and then. Sometimes it resolves itself in a few days. Other times, it remains like that for too long. Is there a solution for this:

20220225_190045.png

As you can see, many other apps got updated without issues, but 3 got left this time. Pressing on the Retry button would download the app, and installation progress goes to well over 90% and then gets stuck with that error.

Any solutions?

It doesn't happen all the time. But it is something that I notice often.

Are you using any type of custom codecs?

No. I don't know what you mean by custom codecs. I may have installed the codec extensions for the stock Photos and Videos app, and these are available as apps by Microsoft on the Microsoft Store.

This usually happens in one of three scenarios for me.

1) The update has been waiting to be installed for a while, and a new update has since been released.
2) The update is waiting to install and I uninstall that particular product
3) There is a major drop in my internet connection, with the Windows Update advanced setting to allow downloads from local machines enabled.

The third is most usually the case, so I finally disabled that, as, technically, I have the only Windows 11 machine in my home, so no point in having it enabled.

No. I don't know what you mean by custom codecs. I may have installed the codec extensions for the stock Photos and Videos app, and these are available as apps by Microsoft on the Microsoft Store.

By custom codecs, he means a codec pack, almost always third party, that aggregates a bunch of the most often used codes, sometimes with customer settings, and allows a user to easily watch most types of AV media. Things like K-Lite and Advanced Codec packs are really popular around the internet.

If you haven't gotten your original issue solved, try clearing out your temp files first, and then rebooting. This Windows 10 tutorial is pretty much the same way to do it in Windows 11, except temporary files now shows directly in the Storage section.

Or, you could use Storage sense to auto delete it for you:

After doing either one, reboot, then try. If that doesn't work, see below.

Another thing to try would be to reset your Microsoft Store. See Re-register Microsoft Store app in Windows 11 Tutorial

After doing this, it is best to reboot also.

None of the 3 points you mentioned are applicable in my case. I shutdown my computer everyday and I check for Windows and Store updates manually everyday. Why would an app update have to wait once it is downloaded?

Under Disk Cleanup, I have left Delivery Optimization Files unchecked. I used to delete them earlier and I have noticed problems before. After leaving them unchecked, those problems are mostly gone.

Connection issue too can be ruled out.

It is Microsoft Store issue. It most likely is reporting an update that actually doesn't exist, or a newer version is already installed.

Just because *your* connection is fine doesn't mean every node between you and the Microsoft servers that is on the route is working fine. If we could get a trace route using the same route as what the Store uses when checking for updates, then you could rule out a connection issue.

As mentioned in the OP, the error occurs during installation, not when downloading. So an issue with connection is easily ruled out. The installation goes as far as almost 100% AFTER downloading, and then the error pops up.

Hulu won't install for me, at all. Has been failing to do so for the past week. I have tried everything I could find to "fix" it but still get the error regardless. Any ideas?

You could try this in terminal. I'm getting server error but that might be because I'm in the UK.
