Brand new PC with Windows 11

I am not sure how to properly describe my issue - but here goes

After waking the pc from sleep sometimes the screen remains black - I need to use the power button to restart the system.
Other times after waking the PC from sleep the Desktop items have vanished and the Taskbar items are unresponsive - they bring up a little thumbnail but do not open fully

Welcome to ElevenForum! Did this start happening after a Windows update? If so, that article is telling you that you can correct the issue by rolling back to a previous version of Windows. In other words, you remove the update that was installed.

Do you mean that the updated reinstalled? Or after removing the update, the problem persisted?

To get to the bottom of it, you'll have to use process of elimination. Things to try. I advise all troubleshooting be done with any overclocking off.

Set power plan to BALANCED (control panel>power options)

Disable hibernate. This will also disable fast startup.I suggest always leaving fast startup off. Enable or Disable Hibernate in Windows 11 Tutorial

Make sure you are running most current bios version.

Test in safe boot. Search msconfig. Open Msconfig from search results. Put a check by 'safe boot' apply-ok-restart. (When ready to resume normal boot, go back into msconfig, uncheck box and reboot.

Test in clean boot. Perform a Clean Boot in Windows 11 to Troubleshoot Software Conflicts Tutorial

The thing is if the issue doesn't happen every time the computer sleeps, process of elimination will be difficult to do.
EDIT_I would disable hibernate permanently anyway.

I have managed the first two steps by myself - so far so good

You did good. Let it run like that through several sleep/wake cycles. You may not have to do anything else. Tell me, are you overclocking that machine? If so, is it overclocked now or did you disable it before you started testing?

I'll go through a few instruction videos about OVERCLOCKING - unless it was set by PC specialists to do that - it's not something I understand or would initially setup myself

I caution you, it takes more than a few videos to fully understand it & do it correctly.
